I've been collecting them for about five years or so now, I guess.. I don't really know how many I've got, but I'd say well over 100! Mind you, some of them were given to me by kind customers who come into the bookshop where I work, so perhaps these ones shouldn't count! Some of them were obtained from charity shops, some from Superdrug, and some from participating clothes shops and banks.. It's really nice to see someone else enjoying collecting charity badges too. Thank you for a brilliant article,Emmily,.

P.S. About the enamel poppy badges.. Did you say they were only available from the British Legion, sorry, I have a memory like a sieve! I get the paper poppies every year if I can, but we don't have regular poppy sellers around my way, unfortunately!

Not all of mine are new either, some I bought from the charity shop where I work, sometimes they come in loose, sometimes attached to a coat lapel, though there hasn't been many recently. I'll have to get out and about more often, add to my collection from participating shops and banks.
I also work with books, though second hand books in my case. I sort and display the books that are donated to the charity shop, and we get quite a lot in.
That's the information I was told by the poppy seller, that the enamel pin badges were only available through British Legion clubs. Some are available with the year embossed on them, some without, the one I got had 2006 on it, I was told a British Legion club a few miles away had them without the date on, I was quite happy with the date on.

Thanks for the info.. As well as their 'Children in Need' badges, Boots do badges in collaboration with Cancer Research UK every summer to do with their 'Sunsmart' campaign. It aims to make people aware of the issues surrounding skin cancer, not to mention the range of products (not just badges)that they bring out in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.. I'm beginning to sound like an anorak! I'll fetch me coat!!.
I also collect bookmarks.. Some are freebies and some I've bought..
Childoftheseventies.
P.S. I also have a collection of hedgehogs and dogs as they are my favourite mammals!!

Oh, Boots and their Pudsey badges, they never had none in any of the stores I visited last October/November, I even had someone looking in the Boots in Cleethorpes for them, no joy. I eventually discovered ASDA had them, even phoned my nearest store to check they had them before persuading my partner to take me there *just* so I could get a Pudsey pin Badge.
Hmmm wish we'd had this conversation last week, a big bundle of bookmarks came in the shop, looked like they were from an ex-collector, they're all sold now

Never mind.. Re: the Pudsey badges.. I have to confess that the only way I got one was from a generous bookshop customer, but she told me it came from Boots.

Previous years Boots have had them, they had other 'Children in Need' novelties, just not the pin badges. Some of the staff I asked were baffled by it, as they'd had them before, I guess it'll remain a mystery.
I'm not trying to hassle you , just wondered if you'd like to join the Collector's Corner (A19482249) another badge collector, and the only bookmark collector so far, no worries if you want to

You've joined
I've just added you as pin badge and bookmark collector at the moment, didn't know if you wanted me to add about your collection of horses and dogs as well, are these china type and or cuddley, or a mixture of both?

Well, I collect both types of s and s. I don't collect s though!
I have three Swarovski crystal hedgehogs amongst my collection. Most of the hedgehogs are from the 'country companions' collection, although I did buy a lovely Royal Doulton one from a charity shop (PDSA if I remember correctly). My Aunt bought me three lovely natural looking (not the cute dressed as human type ones I buy myself!)ones for my birthday or Christmas prezzies, as well as contributing to my dog collection (Westies, mainly, but other dogs as well). Sorry, this is getting to be quite an essay! Hope I haven't sent you to ..

P.S. No hedgehog smiley!

Oooppsss for mixing up hedgehogs with horses, I should have looked back to where you said what were your favourite mammals that you collected.
I got a few of my pin badges from a hedgehog charity on ebay, can't remember what it's called now though.
Are Westies your favourite dog breed. (My fav s are King Charles Spaniels and Yorkies )
You're not sending me to at all

Westies are my favourite breed of , but I like all dogs, really.. Talking of dogs, my real dog, Flo, is keeping an eye on proceedings while I type this. Could be something to do with the shortbread biccies I've got in my hand though !!
I'm glad I didn't send you to .. I do have a tendency to go on and on when I talk about something that interests me..
