A Conversation for Guinness
Not really beer. Not really black either.

A quick look at the entry on alcohol will tell you that Guinness actualyl isn't beer at all; it's a stout, which is a slightly different thing.
It's also not black. If you hold a pint up to the light, you will see a reddish tint to it. Its actual shading is a very very deep ruby colour (reminiscent of a Father Ted discussion about black vs blue socks).
Not really beer. Not really black either.

Just for clarification, a beer is an ale that contains hops as a flavouring ingredient. An ale is an alcoholic beverage where the principle ingredient is a grain or mixture of grains (though quite possibly flavoured with fruit, flowers, honey, etc) and has not been fortified through distillation or the addition of distilled alcohol. A 'real ale' is an ale that has not been sterilised and still contains live yeast. Can't remember what the definition of Stout is though.
Blimey, there could be an entry in this.
