The possums in New Zealand are the Australian ones, the North American possum has always been unaware of the immigration possibilities. They are vegetarian and within a few years will have eaten themselves out of a good home. It is calculated that there may be as many as 70 million now at large in the pre-mammillian forest. Their only natural enemy in New Zealand is the bored motorist.
