What happened with that thing about the great similarity between 'Whatever' by Oasis and The Rutles' 'How Sweet To Be An Idiot'?
And, of course, they invented Oasis...

Can't say I've ever noticed, but I'm not that familiar with 'Whatever'..!
And the pedant in me can't let this go without pointing out that 'How Sweet...' is not a Rutles number, but a Neil Innes solo track
And, of course, they invented Oasis...

Nice entry, anyway... I must admit, I'm familiar with the Rutles without ever having seen or heard them! Apart from 'How Sweet...' which someone had dug out and played on the radio to rumble Oasis - and that's not even them! The similarity is quite stunning though.
*note to self*
Rutles. Must investigate further.
And, of course, they invented Oasis...

Neil Innes is definitely aware of the similarity...when I saw them perform he mentioned it. (Blimey you'd think I'd seen Hendrix at Woodstock the way I keep going on about this!)
Since he's been on the wrong side of these royalty 'negotiations' before I think it's very charitable of him to let it pass!
Key: Complain about this post
And, of course, they invented Oasis...
