An American company called Mountain Ocarinas produce very nice ocarinas made of plastic. These are somewhat similar to an Italian 10-hole, but have holes in different sizes so that they are easier to play. There are two models, the C and the G. Each plays a fully chromatic scale of slightly more than an octave. The C model plays from a low B to a high E, while the G model has a similar range shifted up a fifth from low F# to high B.
The Mountain Ocarina has a strong tone and is very compact, so it is an ideal travel instrument.
