you didn't mention the cheat menu, which i think is activated by pressing alt+c, and i think the money cheat is rosebud or rosebush or something like that

you activate the cheat menu by pressing ctrl-shift-c. in the first game, the money cheat was activated by the code 'klapaucius'; in later games this was changed to 'rosebud'. we used to joke that our philanthropist sims became that way thanks to uncle klapaucius and auntie rosebud

don't forget that once you've entered that code, whichever it is for the version you have, you can enter !;!;!;!; as many times as you like, then press enter and it gives you loads of money! and you can keep doing that loads of times!!
i think i should get the sims...i've only ever played on other people's

actually, you only need to do that once. the trick is to end the code with a colon, like this:
!;!;!;!;.....!:
the game will tell you something like 'sorry, cheat code not available'; however at the same time you will notice that your bank has increased. so what you do is that you keep on holding down the 'ok' key while the game continues to flash warning messages until you've got enough simoleons. then you delete the last !: and click ok. and wallack! your sim is a disgustingly loaded philanthropist!

there's plenty other sneaky little things you can do, clelba! my favourite is not assigning the sim any personality points, then forcing him/her to make potions until he/she makes the yellow one - it reverses your personality (ie. from no points in anything, you get full points for everything)!

i hate to tell you this then - but there's the one game and six expansion packs... did i get that right? livin' large, house party, hot date, vacation, unleashed, superstar... that's seven games, total - to get! the problem is that until superstar came along, you had to have all the eps to be able to play the next one...

did you also know it takes over an hour to install the lot? 's what happened to my friend after he got his pc fixed!

Clelba Posted Jul 1, 2003
an hour doesn't seem that long
i guess it depends on how fast your computer is, as well...

i'd advise you start by getting the sims deluxe edition. it has *both* the sims and livin' large as well as a whole stash of neat objects (or so i've heard), and i think you'd save money that way. unless of course, the first few games are now going cheap over where you are...
you might find this useful: http://thesims.ea.com

heh heh... i should first warn you that *the sims 2* is about to come out... bly gorgeous graphics (it's real 3d) and really cool stuff, but i *don't* think the expansions are going to be of any use to it . my pentium 4 friend swore upon hearing the news and said they had better *try* to make 'em go together...
the strange thing is that i couldn't find it on the maxis site itself, but from a game promotion site...

ah
well i don't think i'll get that...
might make the original a bit cheaper though...
