Hi,
I've just read your excellent entry on bacon and onion pudding on the front page of the BBC site, which lead me to this recipe.
My mother used to make a varient (with beef) but cooked it in the even. She used an oven dish with a lid. At the end of cooking (at least) the lid wasn't used and the dumplings would have a lightly toasted top (slightly crunch effect on top of the fluffiness). I'd love to try this dish but have no idea whether the lid was ever used once the dumplings were added. As you seem to be a suet specialist perhaps you have some ideas....
Whatever the case, congratulations on this entry as well as your front-pager
PS She served dumplings plain or with a touch of herbs in them

Hi Not-so-bald-eagle
Thanks for your post and your kind compliments. I had no idea one of my entries had been on the Front Page, I missed it, but never mind.
I'm no specialist of anything, well, not that I know of
If what you're talking about is the same as my mum used to make, could it possibly have been 'Beef Cobbler'? There's quite a choice via Google. I may try making one of those myself.
Oh, excuse the name, I couldn't log on using my usual Emmily name. I had this problem last time the Sign In was changed, I didn't survive then either. Better go find out what I need to do to use my regular log in name.

Hi Emmily,
Thanks for the 'cobbler' information, I'll google.
Btw I recently completed the new sign in but if you've already used your e-mail address with another username there could be a problem.
When I filled in the new form, it kept telling me the name was already taken, but if I was an existing member I had to sign in/register. By the combination of registering plus signing in ( or was it the opposite), it suddenly and surprisingly worked.

for the sign in advice. I've got several usernames. I had meant to log on over the weekend and find out what email addresses I was using for them, but forgot, brain like a sieve.
Suppose now is a good a time as any to find out which of my accounts I can get into and what email addresses they use.
Good Luck with your beef cobbler googleing.
Emmily
