They do look a lot like cats curled up. I daresay that is just a co-incidence.
I have saffron (this is unusual)! It's a sign! I must make these. Nope, can't wait until December.

Well after I wrote this piece, I read a bread book, where they showed traditional Sicilian bread - S-shaped! Just like Lussekatter! Perhaps the Sicilian connection is there after all...

The look like something connected with cats - or produced by them. I suspect that scatalogical humour produced the name.
