I used to be an Ace and a Scout but resigned in October 01 and went into self imposed exile due to a disagreement with the towers over the BBC censorship of one of my articles. I returned in January 02 as i missed my friends, and i still have something to say.
It is only fair i give the official line on this matter rather than my opinion:
"Linus alluded to a defamatory entry. A quick explanation is perhaps in order. Linus wrote an entry about someone in the public eye, and he really believed that what he was saying was true, and even *needed* to be said. He felt this person deserved to be shown to be a fraud in their public image,since what they were saying and what they were actually doing were apparently two different things.
We checked with the lawyers, and they told us *not* to publish that entry under any circumstances, as in their opinion it broke the law. However Linus definitely wasn't *trying* to break the House Rules, and we do understand that; there's no blame here at all.
Defamation law is a tricky thing, and if h2g2 has a lawsuit filed against it, it would do irreparable harm to the site. We just couldn't risk it. So sorry Linus, but we really couldn't go with the story."

Just as well i am also a Zaphodista. If you are not overly happy about some of the 'features' that have been introduced since the BBC took control, you might want to visit here - and meet some like minded people.
