RIP Ormondroyd
Metal Chicken Started conversation Apr 13, 2014
I was saddened to hear today of the recent sudden death of Ormondroyd (U95721), apparently of a heart attack near his home. Ormy hasn't been around H2G2 for a while but was an active member of the community for a long time. I remember him very well from several meets including the Manchester Spring Onion and a Bradford outing of the Flat Cap and Muffler Club. A truly nice guy and I'm sorry to hear he's gone.
For those who remember him, here are links to some things people have written in memoriam:-

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Apr 13, 2014
Oh. That's just dredful news. I too recall him well, from the meets up North, Manchester, Bradford, etc... I'd often wondered where he was, occasionally noticing his name, about on h2g2, and that making me recall meeting him at the various meets

Bald Bloke Posted Apr 14, 2014
Oh B*****
Ormondroyd was always good fun to chat too at meets as well as on site.
Many of us who have been around for a while will miss him.
We will have to raise a glass to him at the next meet.

Pastey Posted Apr 14, 2014
I met Ormy on several occasions, and will miss him a lot.
He was always so full of live and vigour, always making sure that everyone was okay, and having a good time.

Ormandroyd inadvertently gave Daft Punk their name? Wow.
It's a shame to find out something like that on his passing.

You can call me TC Posted Apr 14, 2014
Yes - I found that very impressive, too. A legacy which will last for many years.

Asteroid Lil - Offstage Presence Posted Apr 15, 2014
I remember Ormy from online. An intelligent bloke who knew how to play. There are a couple of his digital paintings in the Atelier Artrage collection; I must dig them out for everyone to see.

This was his painting. He said he couldn't paint, but he was still willing to join in the exercise.

Metal Chicken Posted Apr 16, 2014
It's good to know so many of the old timers remember him fondly. His last journal entry is now rather poignant, he cam eback to H2G2 briefly in 2010 to mark his amazement at reaching his 50th birthday. Wish we'd done more to try and track him down for the last big Manchester meet...
