I was on TV the other day!

On Friday I made a very brief appearance in the BBC2 drama 'Beyond Narnia', about CS Lewis. I played the sister of his friend who was killed in the war. It was literally a ten-second bit at the back of a shot, moaning at the woman playing my mother, but I found it very exciting and my name was even in the Radio Times - how's that for stardom!

Through my drama club - they were looking for a load of extras about a year ago and I must have been the one who looked closest to that particular character!
I've also been in Midsummer Murders...but then again, who hasn't!

Well, as a matter of fact I've not been in Midsumer Murders.
I feel quite deprived, as I've only got the one screen credit to my name. Well, not to my name per se. Japanese gameshows don't really give a credit do they?
Anyway, back to the subject - and I missed it! Demme. It's the whole christianity thing that gets in the way of me liking Philip Pullman and CS Lewis more than I do. Too preachy.

I also haven't been on Midsummer Murders - I also haven't watched it, so I've missed both your TV appearances . I dug out last week's Radio Times and identified you from the cast list
I was briefly interviewed by a BBC reporter and by a South American TV station at the world premiere of the h2g2 film , but if the BBC was anything to go by I didn't actually appear on TV anywhere .
I guess to take up offers of extra work you have to be quite flexible with your other commitments.

Sorry Ismarah and Pimms - I was just joking re. Midsummer Murders. They're in the same vein as Casualty, Holby City, The Bill, in that you look on any actor's CV and there's bound to be one of them on there!
I have to admit that, my family not being at all religious, I didn't see the religious aspect at all when I read the Narnia books as a child. When I did it felt like a bit of a betrayal - that there was a 'hidden message' which spoiled my enjoyment of the books a bit. Almost like doing sudoku and finding out it IS about maths after all... . These days I try to see them as exciting stories and try to forget the obvious religion, in the same way as you have to turn a blind eye to the racism and snobbery in Enid Blyton's books.
Philip Pullman is a different kettle of , in my opinion. His books look at religion in terms of power and the abuse of power. He doesn't preach Christianity, or any other organised religion, more the power of the individual, courage and love. I love his books and don't find them religious at all. But each to their own.

Aha! My oh-so-secret hootoo identity is rumbled!
Yes, you couldn't do it properly if you had a full-time job, or even a part-time one. I took the day off for my couple of experiences but I coudn't do it often or I'd have no holiday left. The chap I know who does a lot of extra work doesn't have a job as such, so he has plenty of free time.

I felt the same way about CS Lewis and Philip Pullman, to be honest. It reads like a proper, nice fantasy that kids would like. And then you find out about all his other stuff and the theology and so on and it loses some of its gloss.
At the moment, one of my favourite authors is Laurell K Hamilton, although that is strictly on an adults-only basis. Although she needs a good sub and editor.
I wasn't trying to detract from your stardom, you understand, when I pointed out that I hadn't been in Midsumer Murders - that was the point. Not everyone has and (apart from Björk and some other musicians) you're probably the most famous person I know, that I know of. Never know who you might know on here, you know?
cheers ismarah
