Hi, everyone,
We all seem to be pretty much in the same boat here weight wise etc.
Bluesue, nice to see you again, thanks for the Ostrich meat reminder - the farm them somewhere in my area. Must try both, as I can't see either of us becoming veggie!
As for smoking, seeing what my husband went through, ( and is still going through) and numerous other patients like him, I can only BEG ALL of you to try and give up. By the time it really hits your lifestyle it is too late and it is horrible.
Scorpio, Frenchbean is right, patience isn't one of your many virtues, mine neither, but the stress can be caused by the smokes.
Good luck all - must now try and practise what I preach, wieght wise, though I have only ever smoked passively

Bought the Water Buffalo meat today (loads of it) SS is currently setting up - you've guessed it WS - the Barbecue.
Whilst we were in the shop, I forgot to ask about another meat they were advertising in the Derbyshire Times - Kangaroo!! apparently it has less than 2% fat.
Now about stress levels! When we went into the shop, I removed my purse and mobile phone to my coat pockets and left my handbag under the front passenger seat. On return to car, SS opened the estate boot; put the cool box containing the meat into the back and closed the lid. This was immediately followed by the cry of "oh S**t" "Have you brought your keys? - I've just locked mine inside"
Yes of course I had brought my keys - they were in my handbag under the front seat weren't they? We are in the Green Flag so that's no problem then! Unfortunately the windscreen is at such an angle that you cannot read the phone number on the window sticker from the outside. Electric windows and central locking make it more difficult to get in.
Phone call to Daughter for number and an hour's wait in the rain, sitting on a wall did nothing for my stress levels. The only thing which actually made it all lighter by half, was that Daughter thought it was hillarious and kept ringing me back to laugh at us. SS threatened to suspend her by the toenails and hang her from the light fittings - he also saw the funny side in the end.

Oh Scorp, I'm sorry. I once managed to lock me out of my car, motor running, baby fastened on back seat Fortunately, I had the keys for the flat where the second car key was, and I wasn't very far from home, so I asked one man to stay by the child and keep it occupied, and another to drive me home

My Mom had a nack for doing that!
Locking the keys in a running car!
It embarrassed her terribly, us kids laughed..

My son has done it too, stuck on Cannock Chase of all places! It seems to happen to all the best people so don't let it stress you out, or SS for that matter. In the great scheme of things it was a mere hiccup. Frustrating, maybe, but you didn't have to be anywhere urgently did you?
Glad you are feeling better. Take care,

Lord!that reminds me of the time i locked my jacket in the boot with the keys in.I called my daughter so she could fetch the spare keys. She asked me where i would be waiting,it was raining,I told her,I havn't locked the car yet, only the boot. After a long exasperated sigh she said "stupid old there is a lever on the floor by the drivers seat that opens up the boot, didn' you read the manual?"oooooops!

I used to do that quite a bit - one time, while the car was still running! Problem was that I'd had both sets of keys with me specifically so that I wouldn't lock one in the car. One set was in the ignition, and one was in my purse - which I managed to leave on the passenger seat while I was locking myself out.
This problem was cured once I bought my Saturn. I locked the keys in it while at college (30+ miles from home) and had to wait 3 hours for the security office to contact a locksmith. Turns out that no one but a regular locksmith can unlock a Saturn. That was the 1st and last time I ever locked my keys in the car. Nowadays, I just lock myself out of the house, and have to become an acrobat to get in via the dining room window!

If it makes any of us feel better, the guy from Green Flag said that they get at least a dozen calls a week just in my area!

Probably all form people our age, too
Thought I'd rather come over here than to clutter up the DG thread
Glad to hear you've had a few relaxed days, hope it wasn't too hot
Oh

Hi B'El
It was wonderful - very hot; but we have a table with parasol on the verandah, so my book and I sat under it - the parasol not the table.
Going back on Wednesday after I ring for hospital results

Not a lot really. I've lost nearly half a stone, cut the ciggies down from around 20 a day to around 5 and am playing fast and loose on Daughter's excercise bike. Also had a letter from the hospital today with an appointment for Thursday - don't know exactly what for; but I knew the Doctor wanted me to see some specialist or other - we'll soon find out.

WS! I was going to send you an e-mail; but because of the unbelievable concern of so many I thought that I should post here. Actually, I hate to post my problems to others; but here goes anyway:
Have been to the specialist at the hospital - who confirms the transient stroke theory. No end of questions and tests. I have had another blood test - showing high cholesterol again/ high blood pressure, also an ecg, which apparently throws doubt as to the efficiency of my aortic valve and a chest x-ray - the results of which I shall not have till next week. I have to return on Thursday for a CT scan (iron lung type of machine to test my brain - perhaps to see if I actually have one working) - also a carotoid (whatever that is) and an echo (ultrasound of some sort or another)
Ah well - tomorrow should be good anyway - it is my 36th Wedding Anniversary and we are going to Chesterfield, where there is a medievel market. Hopefully with some good piccies - located at the usual site.
Night night all and many thanks for such concern xxx

Hiya scorpio!
I wouldn't worry personally too much about "transient ischaemic attack" in it self, i had one at age 14 & still seem to be here at age 52. I do most of the wrong things: smoke, drink & lead a stressful life. But i don't eat meat, & cholesterol levels are stupendously good. I reckon most of it is down to heredity & luck.
Those tests are no prob, they stuff you into a tube & you get very bored, but no nasty needle stuff. I refuse to let them do nasty needle stuff, or insert tubes; i simply bite them, they get very annoyed. I have "DP" inscribed on my notes, bet you can't guess what that stands for?
If you are worried about people nicking your car, get a Skoda.
