Advice on GuideML
Nigel *ACE* Started conversation Mar 28, 2008
As most of you know I am re-designing my personal space, ready for when I officially go 'live' welcoming aces .
I need a little bit of advice please. I have put pictures on my space which are out of h2g2 picture library. My aim is to put some kind of link in so that the person viewing, can click on that picture e.g. the tree one, and get a guide entry up on a subject the picture is about e.g. trees.
Can this be done? If so, how and where do I need to put the link?
Thank you
Nigel

hi
-
there are a few ways, depending on what you are adding. you can also use a smiley instead of a tree.
-
go back to my space, click the logo inbetween the large disco smileys, and you will get a larger one lol
-
the codes to that and any others are on the links, as wallpapers , jim

hi there
-
just looked at the space its getting there.
-
the phoos, i would change to photos on the flickr.
-
about you, would be better in red
-
the size of the text can be from 1 to 7 max.
-
if you put colour codes in the h2g2 search to the left, you will find the variations on the colors to use on a few guides, ie #000000.
-
there is a link to personal pics on the h2g2 gallery, on my space to, the fotki, so you can send to azahar your pics you want the members to see of you.

take care ,jim

Jim,
I hate to disagree that<>. I find green is easy on the eye, especially if there is a lot to read - red always seems urgent somehow. Green is relaxing and this is a gardening/horticulture site after all i haven't checked out what it looks like in other skins though.
Not sure what you meant with this: <> Still Nigel is brighter than me and I am sure he will figure it out
By the way the Google Earth links on your PS were interesting.

i was taking the fact some like me are digibox, and light colours dont show to good, but i also said that if he looks at the #oooooo, type codes there could be a brighter green or lighter red.
-
i see things in my box perspective, like somr pics wont show on my page unless i size them, i see them all you might not see one, jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your advice. I think I need to sort the boxes out, on my dads computer which is a standard screen, they are all over the place on the page, not the neat line they are on my screen.
I will have a look at the colours and see if I can work out the numbers to each, will get there eventually .
Thank you also to 'Star Fleet' for the useful link you sent me. I did not know half of the things until I read that .
All the best.
Nigel

hi
-a tip, dont try to oversize the boxes and things, or the page will balloon out on you, and be harder to read.
-
you only have the, down the center, go out to far anf the messages and the right side info will distort to other parts of the space. like mine, you can sneak a bit, but to much and its all over the place,
-
ask prof, he,s been the best at it for a while, havent you prof lol jim

I think that is where I am going wrong Jim, making the boxes to big and moving to much to the right side of the screen .
I haven't done anymore to my space yet but will have a play soon, I have come up with a few more idea's.
