Officially, tomorrow, I come of age. Old age that is
Is anyone else waiting to feel grown up too I don't feel my age, except when the arthritis kicks in, or my sons treat me like a little old lady (bless 'em!).
I get free prescriptions and a Half Price Bus Pass - - now I can really paint the town red, or in this case PURPLE See link to express how I feel:
http://vicky.com/quotes/purple.htm
Have I not done a Journal since July? Where did the time go? That's what comes of being old, stuck at home with nothing to do - the time passes without you noticing
I have never understood boredom - frustration, dissatisfaction and a desire to be doing something else, somewhere else, but never boredom. Perhaps I will now find the courage to do some of the things I have been frightened to do over the years.
If my aunt can go to live in Australia at 65, and go flying in a 2 seater plane at 80, surely I can do something significant for once,
Oh, well, I can always wear PURPLE off to shops for purple frillies!!!!! On second thoughts I doubt they do them big enough!!!

Happy Birthday for tomorrow, Websailor
I have a policy of always doing something I've never done before on my birthday It can be something as small as going on a new walk, or eating some food I've never tasted before. Or it can be a big thing, like getting my first tattoo It is always something self-indulgent; my present to myself, if you like.
As for waiting to grow up? Yup... I reckon I'll always be expecting that to happen in a year or two Hasn't happened yet, but then I'm a young whippersnapper of 42
Is it one of the great lessons of adulthood; that we never do grow up? It certainly looks very different from the view I had when I was in my teens and early 20s. Good different, not bad different
Are you having a party?

Thank you all very much. Fb, No party, just me, other half and two sons and one or two visitors during the day no doubt.
A or two , some , some and my family will do me fine. I am very conscious that I am lucky to have them all. Being an only child I do not have many "rellies" and most of them are out of the country.
It has been a funny old year (or two). I have lost some dear friends (far too young) and an aunt, and two new babies have appeared in my circle of friends. Another is due later this week so I guess they were making space for the new arrivals
Looking forward to having my hair done and getting my Bus Pass later in the week ready to kick up my heels - ouch! - well it will if I have too many
NIght, night all, and thanks for good wishes,

Go raise hell on the in your purple frillies! Being "aprés une certain age" is a brilliant excuse for eccentricity, if not total lunacy!

Happy Birthday Sailor, many happy returns and many happy
You have now aspired to what the Scousers call a Twirly. Bus passes don't operate in Liverpool until after 9-30, so when the bus arrives at 9-25 they ask the driver *Am I too early*
Travel hopefully......

Websailor Posted Oct 20, 2004
Thanks everyone. Never had so many congrats! I usually keep it under wraps
WA, here in Birmingham we have Twirlys too. For the uninitiated that's short for Am I Too Early? here too I hope Liverpool drivers are kinder than ours. WA, enjoy the apology!!!!
Terri and A1 thanks too. I shall bear that in mind next time the surly driver on my bus finds he is not getting a fare this time
Oooh! I am SO excited - NOT The weather is apparently the exact same as arrived on my original birthday which is may be why I hate it - dark, dull and very wet
A bit of sun is promised for later, as is a Colour Printer. I will let you know what comes true!
Birthday or not, chores await, so see you all later. Have a on me, or whatever your particular tipple is - good coffee, Beanpole? for our younger HooToos.

Thanks Kat,
I had a lovely evening indeed but it has left me cream crackered! A house full when we are usually so quiet is very strange, and as we hadn't been together for a while lots to talk about so the washing up got left!!
Anyway had my hair done today in spite of wind and rain, and feel a bit better. The house is a tip. Nothing is where it should be and my office is upside down. You wouldn't think the appearance of a colour printer could cause such havoc, but everything has to be moved, and another round of clearance MUST take place very soon. Fortunately nothing urgent is on the cards at the moment so as long as I can get to the computer to log on to h2g2 and Op. Mig., emails etc. I am not going to worry about it.
Thank you all for your good wishes, it really made my day.

Hi, Woodpigeon,
Thanks for good wishes. I had a lovely day. Your twins will be celebrating just before Xmas won't they? Where has the time gone. Have you any new pix of them? I bet they have grown. I must take a look at your photo album when I get time.
I think that was the tiredness coming over! I am still exhausted, and the house being in a muddle is just contributing to it. It will pass in a day or two. Can't wait to get the bus pass and go gallivanting

Hi, Kat,
Lots of cards, some money (for me) , a watch, a colour printer (not new but hasn't had much use, but who cares - it's colour!) a LARGE CD rack, , . CD. etc. etc.
So now you know. I have accumulated a lot of CDs to play when I'm working on the computer and the existing rack takes up too much room so once fixed up this will be much better. The printer means a shuffle round in the office but that will happen soon (I hope). I need some muscle to give me a hand otherwise it would be done by now
Got my Bus Pass now so I shall be hopping on and off as much as possible before the winter really sets in.
So generally I am a very happy . for asking.
