'What's Wrong With Americans?' is definitely *the* thread to avoid - though, oddly enough, when it started there was some genuine, intelligent debate on it (by which I mean balanced debate, rather than name-calling and deliberate cage-rattling).

well they all seem to degenerate, althogh Rough Riders thread What do you think about the US? was pretty good if you ignore the Oetzi distractions (Adelaise will know what I mean)

Oh, yes, Oetzi... How could I have forgotten? What is he doing these days? Th WWWA thread could actually be very friendly and informative. (Despite the name..)

Funnily enough WWWA was almost the first thread I came across where I almost immediately got involved with a flamewar with Apparition and RAF Wing, a formiddable combination
However I persevered smiley - smiley

It was about last October but I wouldn't be able to date it closer than that
the annoying thing is all the participants were anti-Bush etc but got very heated about side-issues, myself as much as anyone I expect

Indeed! The first person I met here (sometime in June 2001, I think) was Galaxy Babe. I don't remember what my first conversation thread was... I did a Guide entry straight away, it was an essay on Language that'd I'd just submitted for a sociology paper! Ah, those were the days... smiley - cat
