*Begins mentally rehearsing his "Oh, Blackberry Cat? Oh, yeah. Friend of mine actually. Is that the time?" pub story*

yes, now I've been featured in a US E-Zine that admits its readership is shall we say small
mind you I took a look a Riding Shotguns other articles and I thought they were good
I've now added the magazine to my favourites list

HBFJ he was an American who started a thread on what non-Americans thought of the US
was quite open about his aim to write an article on the subject
the thread was in Ask H2G2, I did put a link to the original article on the thread but seemingly noone except me is still subscribed or interested
I thought it showed us quite badly not so much in what we said but thay we ignored or didn't realise that Rough Rider and many other intelligent thoughtful citizens of the US exist

I start to get a bit bewildered by the 'Opinions on Americans' threads on Ask - I'm subscribed to at least three. I find they vary in intelligence: some just degenerate into slanging matches, some (usually the ones either started by or quickly located by intelligent Americans) are actually very interesting. There's also a tendency for virtually any thread on an American subject to become either one or the other after a couple of pages.

I generally avoid them. I can't defend much of what we do but I still get defensive about it. I rarely see a need to participate either way.

ok it is now at or near the top of the Ask H2G2 list
HBFJ I can understand why, individuals are not responsible for what governments do but we often forget that, still I feel you shold participate at least to the extent of voting (preferably against BUSH)

Oops there was a simulpost there. I don't participate in the "what's wrong with americans" threads on hootoo. I do participate in american politics in america. And I will vote for "anyone but Bush"

ok, I can understand you avoiding those threads
glad to hear you are active in American politics
RoughRiders magazine seems like an interesting liberal/radical one
