Oooh dear. Could I go out on a limb here and say that the idea of employing fireflies to get kids to self-censor seems a bit dodgy, ethically speaking?

*imagines fireflies writing b@ll@cks in the sky*

Damn I missed the badgercam again this morning.

And how are things in the Big Badger household? Did any of the contestants throw a wobbly? Was anyone provocative? Did anyone eat rubbish or destroy any plants?

Well I rushed off and emptied a peanut butter jar out, there wasn't that much left, and battered a small screwdriver thro the top to make some holes.
I still didn't go out, there were rather a lot of people around and now that I have time to think about would feel rather self concious, and I shall wait till Thursday nite, when G doesn't have summer school on Friday and he can stay up late and we can go firefly hunting.

They're baa-aaack!!!!
Just gone midnight, it had started raining and I heard something like squeaking coming from the end of the garden. So I leant out of the window and there were clear animal noises (something like a bark, but higher pitched than a dog, a bit 'yelpy' too). I didn't think it was badgers at first but then these two shapes shot across the lawn, playing something like 'tag' with each other (actually, on closer inspection, the game turned out to be something like "whoever bites the other's bottom the most times wins" ). There's no moon tonight, so it was pretty hard to see, but they were joined by another - these little lowslung dark shapes zooming around - and all three were chasing each other. These three must be the young ones I think (though they're still pretty near adult size) and they're a lot faster than you'd think as well. If you know what a dog is like when it gets a case of the 'runs' and just has to belt around a garden at top speed, narrowly missing things - well, that's what these badgers were doing.
I'm all excited again!!!

Told ya, ya were some kind of badger magnet
Marvellous..
You know I've been wondering should I double my ll's up like that on words such as travelling, etc?
I am locationally challanged with my spelling here, and getting confused...I've seen in some stuff just one constonant with the 'ing'...err..yeh..so just wondered about that being as it had nothing on earth to do with badgers..except that they were traveling thro your garden?
The G-force and I are off to catch fireflies soon, armed with the peanut butter jar. We caught one last night but it refused to light its bum once it was in the jar and just ambled around the bottom of the jar nochalently pretending it wasn't a firefly at all but just a plain beetle.
I need a butterfly net or perhaps a lil fishing net thing you know those that you can get in corner stores for sticklebacking...

>>it refused to light its bum once it was in the jar<< * at thought of Vix shaking the jar, shouting "perform, damn you, perform!"*
I think you'll be lucky tonight! Those fireflies are *bound* to put on a show

Hurray! The Return of the Badgers...
>>These three must be the young ones I think<<
Rik, Neil, Mike or Vyvyan?
mv, I'd make some comment about double lls but I just got up and am not too bright yet. I'm sure you're on the right track
Good luck with the fireflies

! Sounds like they're having fun. I'm so happy they came back to you! Did you do anything for them or did they just show up?
Exciting Nature Thing!
Trin Tragula Posted Jul 11, 2004
Well, I didn't do anything myself, but it did start raining quite heavily - didn't you say something about lawn sprinklers, Hellie? Looks like you were right.
(Though if the logic is that all the worms come to the surface, these badgers were zooming around way too fast to eat any of them )

We didn't catch any...
*crestfallen* Vix *sniffle* *sulk*
They all seemed to be everywhere we weren't and by the time we got there, they were on t'other side.
I think the one we caught t'other nite told all his pals..
*conspiracy*
