Well, grilled just about anything sounds nice to me, unless it's some gross meat thing.

I am sure it was very nice, but all I could taste was how hot it was.

Still I feel better for having a proper hot meal in me.

Halloumi is a cheese from Cyprus. A bit like feta, only more "plasticky".

I've just put my back out. smiley - sadface

So no exercise for a wee while...smiley - sigh

Harsh. I hate hurting my back. It is such an annoying injury. You just cannot do anything without it hurting.

It is nearly as bad as Hamstrings.

It's the first time I've ever had anything wrong with my back! I think my first reaction was just shock.

Oh dear! Lower back? I have a lot of problems with my lower back, which is another reason for taking yoga. Have you put ice & heat on it? (alternating between the two is usually good). Taken an anti-inflammatory?

Meanwhile, although you shouldn't do anything strenuous, it is best to keep moving a bit. I find walking helps - it hurts at first but then things 'loosen up' a little and afterwards my back feels much better.

smiley - hug

Thanks! I've got my heat up lavendar bag which nestles comfortingly into my back, and Dai's bringing me some Ibrofen gel to rub on it.

Right, I think I'll go and heat up the remnants of last nights veg and cheese for lunch.

Hmmm..well my excuse is me back! Plus it's so cold I've been eating comfort food.

Have cut down on the crisps and chocolate, mind.

So how did you all survive the weekend?

Gaaaaaaa! Not *this* thread again! smiley - winkeye

Well, my 'excuse' is that I hit a very wonky emotional patch last week and ended up spending two whole days in bed! Very unusual behaviour for me, but it was also a sign that I need to be taking care of things better. Well, 'things' as well as me.

It seems I have now risen from the ashes, so to speak, and feel quite a bit stronger now.

Food-wise I seem to be doing okay. But still too much smiley - redwine . All those empty calories! And still far too little exercise.

The stupid thing is that I *know* if I started exercising more then I'd feel better in general and wouldn't have such a need to 'self-medicate'. It's getting started that is the hard bit. So I really need to be taking my own advice and start doing this step-by-step.

Anyhow, I'm really glad that you and FB are still here, helping to poke and prod me along . . . smiley - ok

Lucky, your recent back experience reminds me of a time, oh gosh about 20 years ago now, when I'd made a pact with myself to start getting back to the gym, etc, etc, and that very morning while running up the stairs to my dentist appointment my lower back went - aaaargh! - and I ended up with sciatica and it was six weeks before I could even walk normally. smiley - cross

But don't let it get you down. And comfort eating doesn't *have* to include crisps and chocolate. I've never been good at dieting, always preferring to *do more* instead, whilst cutting down on stuff here and there. So I can understand your frustration now. But in another week or so you'll be back to being able to take long walks and perhaps get back to running again (though running is a very bad thing for backs and knees).

Earlier this year Noggin and I bought an exercise bike (which is now happily collecting dust in our living room) but this might also be an option for you. It's easy on the back and is also a good aerobic sort of exercise option. The downside is that it's boring as F**K, so best to use it while watching telly or even reading.

I haven't been to yoga for two weeks now, but will go back on Wednesday (promise!). And then also start riding that d*mned bike at least once a day. Um, starting tomorrow . . .
