Agreed, I suppose it's like naturalization minus the naturalizing. They're herded, tutored and organised into cliques, that's what bugs me. It doesn't happen to the other newbies, they find their feet and go where their nose takes them. So I'm not alone in thinking that was way over the top?

No you're not. It's like self isolation now.
