Just in case anyone has a copy of the June issue of trail magazine, that bunch of crazy ramblers with a tent on top of Tryfan's me and some rambling friends.
For those of you who don't have the June issue of Trail magazine (everyone I expect ) the pic's at http://www.su.nott.ac.uk/~ramsoc/images/photos/grade304a/22.jpg . That's me on the left with the purple and green rucksack and the super huge gloves
And before anyone asks, it was for the 'tents in unusual places' competition

Grroooooovy.
Purple and green are my favourite colours, and the super huge gloves are just to *die* for.
So that's not usual for tents? And there's me looking for two big rocks every time I pitch one. I dunno, I guess you should read the instructions from time to time.

Well, I suppose Ramsoc's another reason for me to put in a Nottingham application...

It was chilly , and very windy too. Going back there after the exams
We did get a lot of odd looks pitching the tent

Why, how many people were able to watch this ? As far as I remember it was a cruel trip in really bad weather, did sombody up there give tourists for free, so that they came in masses ?

Scrambling up mountains in bad weather is great fun . Though some foolish people had taken school groups up there . They didn't even have boots some of them; the rocks up there were covered in ice.
There is a café on the top of Snowdon, but not Tryfan

Schools in England seem to have some ideas, sometimes .
I'm not much of a mountain climber, not even in nice weather- but then I'm more than twice as old as you - so I have an excuse

The school trip is dying; teacher's unions are just telling thier members not to take children on school trips anymore. Quite sad really. My Dad was getting upset because he can't even burn a peanut anymore (he's a physics teacher).
George, the President from 1973, still comes to visit. He lives in Germany and is still rambling. Trouble is it's kind of addictive.

Schooltrips are reduced everywhere - lack of money and lack of teachers.
Well, but then we didn't do many when I was a pupil - and look what has become of me

I loved school trips, I probably learnt more on them than I did in the classroom.
Didn't have many but the ones I did have made quite a big impression. But then that's quite obvious as I'm now taking environmental science and want to work in a field studies centre.

*Toddles over to the journal rack, finds ladder to reach the top shelf (we've got some tall students here) and fishes down Junes issue of Trail*
See, we've got one.
ONe of those moments when you'd love to have been a 'fly on the wall' so to speak.

I'm vaguely offended by the implicit suggestion that I don't read Trail magazine , even though that's thoroughly unreasonable. Great picture though!
Key: Complain about this post
