h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

...I just thought I'd let y'all know that I've enjoyed every moment here. Whether it's been (predominantly) at Lil's Atelier, or out and about the rest of H2G2. My days have been filled with lively conversation and the companionship of good people. Be well, all of you.

Why am I taking a hiatus? No internet connection available. At work, the PTB have recently decided to kill all extraneous web access, filtering even mundane sites that show as "Reference" or "Educational". Guess they don't want us to get any smarter than the Execs... Oh, wait a minute. That happened long ago.

Suffice it to say, all "Bulletin Board / Community" sites (such as H2G2, the Beeb in general, and Writers' Dock) are all off my list of access points. At home, we don't have internet because no DSL links reach out this far, the cable companies don't service this area, and the satellite companies ask too much money for a monthly access. I've been luck--as I may have mentioned before--to have a spurious WiFi signal that makes it as far as my home in the 'country'. But, as I'll be giving the Company laptop back this week, even that will no longer avail me.

I'll search out all the other options in this neck of the woods and you may see me around again. I have a feeling it won't be until after the end of June, though, as we'll be at a biblical teaching seminar for two weeks, and it'd be pointless to pay for the net acess if we won't be using it.

So... I must say my 'so longs' for now. Just keep the door ajar so I can slip back in when I get the opportunity...

Yes, I'll be back as soon as I can find a reputable ISP that can provide high-speed internet at a reasonable price...out to where we live. As detailed above, the latter is really the trick. Not like we're a million miles away from town! Quite the contrary. We live about 1.5 miles west of the interchange of Hwy 54 and State Road H. It does, however, put us out in County property and most of the 'communal services' here are hard-won commodities.

I'll give it a thorough research and be back...in full force.

These 3g dongles that we get over here are pretty handy, not as cheap as some but dare say even cheaper over there....
