This could get mighty confusing. I'm going to leave it for a day or two so that our friends at Bush House can (perhaps inadvertantly) be part of the fun...
Let me thing, Ashley would be Ash, Natalie would be Nat, Peta, Mina and Jimster might be more of a challenge, and as for Sam, Abi and Jim...
Whoami?

I'd say that it could get 'interesting'! Peta, Mina and Jimster are more of a challenge - Ed1, Ed2 and Ed3, perhaps?

I don't see what's difficult about Pet and Min (I already know one of the latter but that's a more legitimate contraction of a real name instead of a false one). The main problem would be having Jim AND Jim (which is surely why Jimster was used in the first place).
I had been wondering why Whoami hadn't gone for the obvious TLA before, but thought it was in deference to the real Doctor WHO (or the organisation or the band).

well, you could be 'rho, researcher formerly known as rhomunuq'
rho's a great nick, especially for people like me who are too lazy to type stuff like 'rhomunuq' in full . i guess it's just a matter of how comfortable you are with just 'rho' showing up every time you post
...anyway, when you get tired of *that*, you can always revert back to rhomunuq (it's not as though anybody's going to be using a nick like that anytime soon ).
far.
(oh dear, this is all about three-letter names, isn't it? )

Pim would be OK though.
For Gecko it is a bit harder. Perhaps Gko would do.

I dount we could get yours any shorter though, maybe SF, but doesn't have the same ring. I suppose I have a quite obvious shortened name. Anwyay, yes I am aware of my (Freudian?) typos, they do occur fairly often, dno't they. Hmm, see what I mean.

You could use Irm if you were feeling insecure.
You could add or use atomic number as a couple of recent rebrandings have.
You could switch to 191 or 193 (isotopes) depending on how abundant you feel.

Hi SEF! Thanks for making me giggle! Good idea for Gko and my signature is then: gko hope Rho likes the greeting from gko!

Not sure about Irm but I like the suggestion about abundance. On a good day, I could be Ir-193, on a bad day Ir-191. It'll be a really bad day if it's Ir-192
Ir-193 (having enjoyed a very good performance with bat and ball by Engalnd )

At least it was highly original.
Hi Gko and Pim!
Iridium, If you weren't sure whether the day would turn out to be good or bad, you could become Ir-194.

PS, Hasn't anyone else spotted Tango's new nickname?
