Because almost everybody now calls me 'Rho', I've been considering shortening my nickname to 'Rho' for the last few weeks. Therefore, I've changed it to 'Rho' as an experiment, and, if it sticks, I'll make it my new, permanent nickname!
If you'd like to throw in your , go right ahead!

Rho!
Then again, I'd have to change your logo.
Also you wouldn't be able to tell if anyone was cross with you or have anything to use for "best".
Plus you've ruined the repetitiveness of your journal when you had the perfect excuse to continue it the other week.

I like the logo just as it is!
My journal was getting just a little repetitive, so I realised that I had to break the cycle at some point! That point was, err, about five minutes ago.

No, I'm not sure either, I'd just use Rho as a firendly shortened version but keep the longer one, it is quite a good imagniative name

Nice freudian slip that: "firendly". Your keyboard does seem to be giving you trouble this morning, Iridium.
The bit I would have dropped (and never started here) was typing it every time as a sign-off. It *is* at the top of the posts after all. It would only make sense if someone else was using your account other times (or even at the same time with the first part of a message being from you and the second part being the other person). That of course is the situation with shared accounts or multiples. For a shared account it is rather important to sign oneself into messages so as not to risk misrepresenting any of the other users.

I prefer the full name, you can use Rho all the time (including signing your name at the end of posts, don't listen to SEF, it's just trying to trick you into being a SEF-clone. Being different is great!! ), but keep the full name in your official Nickname field.
Tango - signs his name so people can tell it's him when they've finished reading, not just before. Some people have very short memories.

"You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile." - oops that's "drone" not "clone". "You will be exterminated. "Resistance is useless." - daleks are clones of a sort. There's not much difference in tone though. What about Vogons: "Prepare for demolition. Resistance is useless.". Erm, definitely a pattern there.
Anyhow, I was one of those voting to keep the full RhoMuNuQ in the nickname. We've already done the TLA jokes with SEF, Rho, Owl, Abi etc. I can't call you Tan, Tango, because that's someone else. I suppose you could be TBD (with middle initial To Be Decided too!).

Whoami?, when did you shorten your name? I only just noticed that...
SEF, my "full name" for my net alias is TangoM42Delta, but i'll stick with Tango.

My BBCi MBs SEF has had a special smiley in it for months. It was part of a joke about webcams. I said mine was very low resolution and added the smiley to demonstrate. That was soon after I reverted to just initials having discovered the place was full of stalkers and some people had even been tracked home (just disturbing and unwanted with no known assaults as yet fortunately - though it may be just a matter of time since BBCi hasn't existed that long). A few people had seemed unduly interested in me so I changed nickname about the time the previous board closed down with most copies of my fuller name on it. Some other people made light of the need for it until they too were stalked and decided to switch nicknames to something less traceable.

I made it between post 10 and 11 of this thread. That doesn't account for any system delay though.

*actually reads the b'log*
Here's my , before we go completely off topic :
(#4): It doesn't feel right just now, but it might feel right once I've had it for a few days. I'll keep it for about a week, then decide.
(#5): The problem with it is that it's a bit tricky for people to type, whereas 'Rho' is difficult to mistype! (*waits for a series of 'OhR's and other variations to appear below*)
(#7): I've got into the habit of signing my posts, which means I don't forget to sign, for example, emails, which aren't as obviously from me.
(#8): I must learn to think for myself! Wouldn't signing a different name to the one in the nickname field confuse people?
(#9): I thought it was part of a cunning plan to keep people fed.

It's important to get the right name for you. I personally set up a poll and let h2g2 decide (It didn't change...)
- signs like this so he can easily tell if he's simulposted or not (Among other things)
Key: Complain about this post
