Back from California - land of sparkly sidewalks and falling surfers.
Satisfactory trip.
I suspect two entries will come from this trip... hopefully.
Anyway, I shall return to my former glory on this site soon. Once the Jetlag wears out...

I *hate* tomatoes...
By the way, if you wonder about the title of this journal, it's because apparently people in California mistake Ohioans for Iowans all the time. It happened to me. And, by the way, happened to an Iowan.

My Dad's cousin is a manager in a San Fransisco Restaurant. You probably didn't go in there (I didn't even go in there when I was over there last year), but I just thought I'd mention it. You didn't happen to meet anyone there by the name of Smith did you?

No, I don't think so Verc.
But I'm pretty sure I saw a cousin of Pin's.
Pier 39 has hundreds of sea lions. All barking long and loudly, just like Pin.

Ahem...
For the education of the Black Sheep of the Family, I would like to point out that the Californian Sealion is not a true seal, but an otarine. These creatures are as vacuous as they are sleek. The pin-ups of the seal world, attractive in the company of a beach-ball, but otherwise severely limited.
Us phocoids (or phocids, according to some pedantic sources) may not be quite as decorative, but we are considerably more intelligent. Pinniped himself is by no means an exemplary specimen, but even he is probably capable of outsmarting a sealion, at least on one of his better days.
We accept your apology in advance, Jodan. If you would like to mitigate your shame, may we suggest that you go and say something rude to ~jwf~, whose Nova Scotian neighbours, along with various denizens of Newfoundland and Labrador, are currently engaged in the mindless slaughter of several hundred thousand of our innocent kinfolk.
Yours respectfully,
SYWM (wearing a black flipper-band)

What? No apology.
You're still related! I have a stupid relative I'd rather not be related to, but I don't go around taking apologies in advance for people mentioning him
(When I went to Pier 39, I began wondering how I could broach the subject of seals without the result of such a comment from Pin. Didn't work)

We've always assumed he's male, though now you come to mention it, there's really no way of telling among all those rolls of flesh.
...Just joking there, Speak. Don't lie on me again, OK?
