Jodan...
I've left a message for you in the AceForum...
I hope you got it alright...
Glad to see that you might come back to the Aces Group [if I haven't misread one of your previous posts on here]... Though I would be even more glad if your coming back to the Group was a sure thing...
Talk soon...?!

Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Mar 4, 2004
TMH,
I have the same problem with Safari, so now I use Mozilla. Much better. http://www.mozilla.org/

Hi loup That's a wonderful message, and it certainly makes me feel very nice, but I am gone. I will go. It's done. And I prefer it.
I probably will come back to the ACEs. When I'm ready. But not until then.

Jodan, to be honest I *don't* think you'll be missed in the Gurus group. But that has nothing to do with you and everything to do with the fact that *nothing* has been happening in that group for an eternity!
(I thought of handing my badge in, but I guess the italics can use the time it would take to remove it better on something else. )

I was going to hand in that badge earlier, but I had to wait until someone might notice, so here we are.

Thanks for the Mozilla tip, Zarquon's. . .
I downloaded it, and it works great. It doesn't have the nifty spell-checker feature though, or tabs. So I'll stick with Safari as my main browser. Mozilla makes a good back up though. I was using IE for my work email, as it doesn't load properly in Safari. Now I'll use mozilla for that, and anything else Safari mightn't do properly.
I can get rid of IE, yay!

Z Posted Mar 6, 2004
You mean that you haven't got rid of IE altogether.
I really should learn how to install things on my linux box, so far the only softwear I've installed has been the sort that came on the CD. I can download it, but I can't make it become softwear, so until then I'm stuck with Konquor which isn't fantastic.

Well, I took it off the dock, and probably won't use it again, but it's still there.
I still have to use it at work unfortunately.
Mozilla does have tabs, I just discovered!
Can't help you much with linux, I've never used it. Try going here A681473

Zarquon's Singing Fish! Posted Mar 7, 2004
It was someone else on h2g2 who alerted me to Mozilla, TMH, and I now use it as my main browser, with Safari and IE as back-ups.

Researcher 198131 Posted Mar 8, 2004
'tis a wonderful place, is it not? (h2g2 that is.)
I was using both Mozilla and Safari at the same time yesterday.
I was updating my space and checking out how it looked in both browsers.
Safari seems to load faster, but that could've been because BBC was up and down like a yo-yo yesterday.

J Posted Mar 8, 2004
You can't test browser speed on h2g2. You've got to test a neutral site to see which loads normally. That's like racing a horse in quicksand and a human on pavement.
Or something like that.
I think I'll try Mozilla myself. I don't like the name, but it's worth a try.

Researcher 198131 Posted Mar 8, 2004
True, though wasn't exactly testing browser speed. Just happened to notice the difference.
By the way, in Mozilla if you go to the View menu, apply theme, then tick modern. Restart Mozilla. I think it looks nicer, but it's up to you. (I'm not the boss of you.)
Oh, and I found out if you hit AppleT you get tabs, just like in Safari.

Looks like they're removed my badges finally.
That leaves it as light blue, green, blue. Interesting color scheme.

Researcher 198131 Posted Mar 9, 2004
So they have. You'll have to update your intro now.
When you say interesting colour scheme, does that mean you like it, or are you using the word 'interesting' as a polite way of saying 'arhhh, that's the most hideous thing I've ever seen!'?

J Posted Mar 9, 2004
I'll get around to it.
I say interesting like I've never seen this scheme before. lt's not bad, but I've had better. I'm still rather fond of just having the guru badge.

Mort - a middle aged Girl Interrupted Posted Mar 9, 2004
Hi Jodan - I am bored so I thought I would come and annoy you (actually that is a compliment!)
Nothing on tv so I am watching Apollo 13 for the nth time.
How is life across the big pond?
Scotland seems to think it must be summer - it is freezing but a few rays of bright of sun - believe me that is the same as summer here
I am having trouble with my keyboard since I spilled a glass of wine on it Not typos honest
So they have finally accepted your decision and removed your badges? Glad you kept your subs one, subbing is quite rewarding I think.

Mr Tom Hanks is always entertaining I think
Ohio is very moody in weather now. Cold, then warm, then hailing. It's almost as if weather is unpredictable!
My E key keeps popping out of the keyboard The laptop keyboards tend to be more shallow and the keys pop out easier.
They still haven't removed me from any of the mailing lists. They'll notice once I start giving advice on them
Key: Complain about this post
