Matholwch - Brythonic Tribal Polytheist

I stand here,
beneath the verdant oak,
and extend my arms in warm embrace,
to my brothers and sisters,
to the spirits and the gods,
as their love washes me clean,
for a new day.

I stand here,
above the rushing waters,
as they carry my words,
to those who would drink,
of my little chalice,
of precious wisdom.

I stand here,
on the windswept crag,
and extend my heart,
that it might shelter,
all who come to h2g2,
with its spirit of love.

I stand here,
that you may come,
and whisper to me of,
fragrant gardens, sheltered groves,
mighty rivers, ancient books,
and that I may then shout,
my joy to the sky!

I stand here,
with head bowed in gratitude,
for your tales of wandering,
of pilgrimage and of hope,
for the fire in your heads,
and the love in your hearts.

For all this I will stand here,
until the final sunset.

Blessings,
Matholwch the Apostate /|\.

Not too get too schoolmarmy, but...
I'm wondering about the ancient books... where are they found?
In the gardens, the groves, or the rivers?
Is this an alligary or a metaphobe or a suggestion that waterproofing might be a more venerable art than I had imagined...

Off to wander in the rain in my Earl-skinned coat...

Hi Tonsil's Revenge smiley - smiley.

"I'm wondering about the ancient books... where are they found?"

Well School-marm, I think the answer is: in every literate culture. From the Icelandic Saga's to the works of Bede. From the Vedas to the Bible. From the Sun Tsu to the Mayan Calenders. From the Egyptian Book of the Dead to the cave paintings of Lascaux.

We often forget that much of human wisdom was 'discovered' hundreds and thousands of years ago. The tales and dreams of our ancestors contain many truths that we would do well to study instead of just accepting the information overload that is the blessings and curse of our age.

There is not time enough for one poor pilgrim to seek out and read all of these 'ancient books'. So in my verse I ask and thank those who would share the truths and wisdom they have found with me.

Scratch away the patina of the years and beneath you will find me as pedantic as any smiley - winkeye.

Blessings,

Yes we do, but it often takes us a long time to realise that. We can discover more if we are willing to travel within.

Our families also harbour much wisdom that has been handed down the generations and gives us a real, tangible link to our ancestors.

But none of this matters if we do not share it.

I can not learn more from my family, as most everyone is dead. I am having to pass on what I remember of the oral history of my family to my children, and it seems a difficult thing.
I think creating more "history" now is also a big parrt of our important journey.
I'm doing what I can, anyway.
