Is it still tomorrow's yesterday?

I've been trying to think of a response, but I think I'm just going to leave it on the grounds that it says it all for itself.

Existential Elevator Posted Sep 14, 2004
I found out yesterday that the word I have been using in the recess of my odd mind as a swearword which I thought I had just made up is in fact a real word.
Nonce: noun [C]
a word invented for a particular occasion or situation
How odd.

nonce according to the English - Dutch dictionary and Dutch meaning translated back in English
nonce: a word for this/certain occasion.
nonceword: occasionalword.

Wow! According to that one, I would have been using the word correctly if I was in London...
Spoooooky..

I knew the 'idiot/ foolish person' one (as only I would, being nice and cheerful, non-insulting me), but the other definitions I was not aware of.
I don't go to the trouble of inventing (or at least believing my self to invent) words for the use of swearing on the grounds that people with whom I have occasion to use such words are often of lower understanding than myself, and such an invention would be a waste of both my time and theres.
And f**k, b****r, a**e, d**k cheese, c**kmunch, etc all have such lyrical rings to them.
One that was made up, on the spot, by Dan and tends to be used to great effect on many occasions is "mupcheese".

I'm afraid your last starred out one remains a mystery to me...
I don't deliberately make up words, I just tend to realise after using them that I haven't heard them used before. I think "nonce" must have started out in my mind as "ponce" which is one word I do rather overuse.

Doesn't take that much to exchange the two stars for an 'o' and a 'c'.
I use 'ponce' quite a lot'. But I think 'nonce' makes a fairly regular appearence in cockney gangster movies, of which I am quite fond.

Aaaah... Y'know it really didn't occur to be. It obviously isn't a word I use much, outside of reference to male chickens.
I don't think I've seen any cockney ganster movies Apart from the Italian Job [original] does that count?

I tend to use it quite a lot when addressing inanimate objects which have annoyed me (please don't try to read anything Freudian into that).
There are a lot of good ones... Get Carter; The Long Good Friday; Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels... obviously the older ones with Micheal Caine in are the best

I've heard good things about Lock Stock...I've not *heard* of the other ones though
I'm very bady deprived in the land of good films.

Because it'll make me feel even less useful...
They're all good
One day, possibly when you're at uni, we can get together and I'll sort you out.

to you too, but a warm and heartfelt to follow it
Wasn't what was on my mind at the time, but if you're lucky...

I do apologise for that outburst. I'd been listening to people peddling smut the entire day, and it tends to have bad effects on my mental state
Talking of films, I *finally* saw American Warewolf in London the other day!

Whatever works
It's sooooooooooooooo funny. I know it's not meant to be funny. Well, maybe it is. But whatever, it's sooo funny... ~slightly evil laugh~ It was almost killer-bunny-esque

You can never know someone completely. There's always some hidden bits of personality that don't come out very often...
It's funny in a 'so bad it's funny' kinda funny?
