People who say "I left a message"
Captain_SpankMunki [Keeper & Former ACE] Thanking <Diety of choice> for the joy of Goo. Started conversation Jun 17, 2002
Today I have been informed by two people, regarding two entirely different subjects, that they had called my phone and "left a message". One of them went so far as to say "I called your work, home and mobile and left a voice message on all three". If you’re reading this, and you know which "you" I am referring to: No you did not. You lie.
Rather than force me into the detective work of testing all three answering services and listening to the messages from other people - who were courteous enough the call and leave a message - to ensure that everything is in order, I would prefer to be told "I could be bothered to phone you, it wasn’t very important to me so I thought I would make out that I had done what I was going to do and call you but I forgot." or the simple: "Couldn't be arsed" would suffice.
(and record for longest use of the English language without apparent need for punctuation goes to...)
Arrghhh....

oh I think colons and inverted commas count as punctuation. You'll have to try harder than that....
