The diversity of a community
friendlywithteeth Started conversation Nov 18, 2002
How weird is this place!
Always buzzing constant freneticity
a melding of the real, the unreal
the surreal; the super real
different people, different situations,
different problems; different solutions
people being themselves, people being other people;
people escaping from themselves
a myriad of juxtaposed personalities,
with the accompanying hi's lows ups downs; middles
bringing together the mundane and the extramundane,
the ordinary and the extraordinary.
Completely Organic.

The variety here would surely belie
The peace alabaster brings to my eye,
This poem is bad, and I just don't know why
I decided to make every last word rhyme with 'I'!
Good w*rk, friendlywithteeth!
Wow, I thought of taking a year out too, but I decided that I'd find it hard to get back into study mode if I did.
Have you joined any protest groups yet? There was a 'People and Planet' thing on, being hosted here, and there were plenty of things for budding eco-warriors, socialists and pacifists to protest about! I was going to let one of my friends stay overnight at my house, but I forgot my keys and my flatmates were out, so I had to sleep overnight in her sleeping bag - on a wooden floor. That had to be one of the most uncomfortable nights of my life. I never slept a wink, and I was stiff all over in the morning. Oh, and I had to use her toothbrush - bringing back memories of the days when I would forget my toothbrush before staying overnight at my best friend's house - he just ended up telling me to 'treat my stuff like your own'. So if you ever come down to Coventry/Birmingham/whatever and want somewhere to stay, feel free to pop me a line - but just remind me to get my keys!
I think that this is one of the real strengths of this guide - not only does it foster creativity and individuality, but it allows a huge variety of people from all walks of life to come together. I would /never/ meet half of these people under normal circumstances, and I feel that I've really had an opportunity to grow here.
What are your thoughts?

Thanks Jordan Glad you like it! [But it should say Brunel!]
I'm taking a yr out mainly to get some moolah for uni, but also to go travelling and to make sure I stay at uni: I know that if I drop out it means another yr at verk: I definitely don't want THAT!
I haven't joined any protest groups [with the exception of the Big Noise...] Where's the P&P?
You didn't like sleeping on the floor! In July, I went to the Alton Towers Hotel, because a friend was paying for us as part of her 18th bday...it was so hot in the room, and we couldn't open the windows enough, so I used the spare duvet to lie on, and then made a bed on the floor! I slept fine! Didn't use her toothbrush though: I think I'd prefer cheesy teeth!
I'm in Loughborough, which undoubtedly you will never have heard of: it's near Leicester! Same here!
I'm thinking the same thing: which won't make much of a conversation! Have you tried 360? It's fantastic: it's more of a tight knit group, as it's less than a year old, and you get to chat to loads of different people: inc. a 70 yr old Professor from India, a reiki master, MaggyW the editor who has had lots of fingers in lots of pies, Richard, who likes playing with AutoGyros!
[call me FwT or Gnashers: it's shorter!]

Well, to be more precise, all my friends didn't go there, but this one applied.

Hi DD!
Lough is the sporty uni: if you watch olympic swimming, most of the winners come from here...
But I'm off to Leeds next year

Did you see Dead Ringers on BBC2 tonight? They did my alter-ego DD saying "Is it cos I is orange" in an Ali G style.

I won't talk about the other thread with Justin. I don't want to put a dampener on things!
I'm going to go home. Have a good night, everyone, I need to go home and revise/sleep...

No: lets not bring him into it! Let this bittersweet poem be a place of positivity!
Enjoy revising and sleeping!

I real thank that this comunity is a strong group of people, with there heads firmly glued on. and with so many moral and interlectual people floating around, anyone finding us either thinks were mad and goes away, or thinks were ecentric and joins us .
It's a good idea to read the book first mind, it helps you get the sort of mind that fits in well (although this would seem a bit of misleading argument).
nice to see apreciation anyway.

I am now fully awake!
...
Well, mostly.
Hey, we /love/ appreciating! Right, guys?
Guys?
Oh well, I guess they're offline. It was nice when they were here. I 'specially like staring, straight into their eyes... I felt, if I looked hard enough, I could almost discern their souls...
No, that's just deranged. But I could tell if they were online, which is /almost/ as good.

Almost a "Noggin", but the double posts have to be three minutes apart at least.

[s amiably at everyone.]
Isn't it great being an 11-8er? Much better than all those extremists...
Hey Egon! I bet that FwT's gonna be out till about 10... (I hope to be home by then!)
I'm another inadvertent, delayed-reaction double-poster. The Konqueror browser seems to dislike me intensely...
Anyway, how are y'all?
