As a girl, I think you should talk to her. If your friends are that bad i think you should not listen to what they say and just be yourself...
and yourself is quite lovely.
Three months with your friends being bad could equally be three months with the girl you like...

I have a mate in a very similar position atm. He won't make a first move cos he's too shy...
All I can offer you is what I told him...
Try it. If you do it in a quiet way and they say no (which they wont!) then you've got nothing to lose either way
