Having one of those hypercritical weeks.
Trying to fix the fambly finances so that they resemble nonfiction rather than fantasy.
Trying to figure out how to motivate the child without alienating her.
Trying to figure out how to avoid killing the mother-in-law.
Trying to figure out how to keep the dog from killing the cat...
And, trying to figure out how much to really worry about and how much to let go....
Don't do it like that!

If you get answers to any of those things, let me in on the secrets!
I'm trying to figure out if I'm breathing today, myself.
My child is on the warpath, and stated she wasn't ever coming back here. The rest of them are scared of what she's going to do THIS TIME.
By the way....
If you actually HAVE finances, you're well ahead of me!

I was using the term "finances" for lack of a better term.
From what I've been able to learn over last week since taking over the "operation" from the spousal unit, the process resembles nothing so much as plumbing or a toilet. A deposit is made and then flushed from sight... Every once in a while you find something you forgot you had and occasionally the whole thing backs up on you and you find yourself covered with... debt...
The Unit is sick and home from work.
The child is failing several classes.
I have a full sink, a vehicle in the driveway waiting to be put back on the road, a novel festering, the animal situation... and a life I thought I put down somewhere over....
Glad to hear I'm not the only one.
Just don't remind me too often.

Tell the Child that they can do the dishes while the Spousal Unit is ill, and forever after that if said Child fails the year in school, because they will be lucky to be able to get a job washing dishes with so many people with Masters Degrees are vying for the jobs already
Go and fix your Spousal Unit and Yourself some herbal tea, and sit and relax together. Admire your Child and compliment said child on their new-found motivation
Karen
No. Unfortunately you are not the only one.

With our possible time difference, the springoff is still in school, and the unit works nights, so she's sleeping off the last shift as well as trying to deal with her illness.
The state we live in (Texas) has an end of the year test that it is used to check the child's suitability for advancement. It is above and beyond the child's normal grades for the year.
If she aces the stupid test (as she has before) then she gets advanced in spite of her grades.
I would just like her to learn to be more organized so that she can truly define what she wishes to lose or ignore.... like I do.

UUmmmmmmm.....
KIDS!!!
Don't you just them?
I sure wouldn't want to be without mine ever again!
What about talking to the school about getting your Child to help tutor another student?
Sometimes learning is the easiest when we are teaching what we are trying to learn

I hadn't thought of that tutoring thing. I'll ask.
I don't know. I have so few skills that I tend to gloat when I finally laboriously acquire one. I think any novice should try to shy away from my tutelage, particularly since I probably learned it coming through the side door!

Oh, but the important thing is that you DID learn!
My daughter, Tabitha, ran away yesterday. You know, the one who caused all of the problems last year?????
This will be a really tough day for me, as there is a big meeting about the situation this morning.
Wish me luck.

I ran away when I was sixteen.
Moved in with my Grandma.
No one came after me.

I found her, and almost didn't let her come home.
She is on probation with me, and has three days to appologize to everyone she has hurt over the last year and a half.
If she doesn't live-up to my conditions, I'm taking her to Social Services myself.
My line has been crossed.

I think I came late to this party.
Without opening any wounds, what is this young lady's case like?
Are the details in your journal?
At this late date I am hardly able to remember most of what I did as a teenager, let alone justify them.
I left because the situation had become intolerable and I could not find a adult, even Children and Family Services to take a look.
One of the members of my church was a case worker and he tried to institute an investigation, but my step-father worked for the City and somehow the message was sent "back off."
My step-father didn't stop drinking until he retired and that was over a decade and a half after I left.
He's a bit more sober now, but I'm incapable because of my attitude of determining how reasonable he is.

I submitted a stsory to Shazz, for the Post, about the last year and a half. There are also lots of things in my journal, and elsewhere about this situation.
I think the story is "un-comma-ly" good, if I must say so myself!
Karen
stsory?????

I am glad both of you took time to encourage me in the beginning.
You are very kind.
Right now we are experiencing a big wind storm, and part of the roof of my house fell off.
The dogs are in a bit of a panic, and I don't know where the cats are.
I think I am a bit panicky, too.

Fixed the bit of roof that fell off in the wind. It's still blowing out there, and really chilly, so it took a lot to nail the eaves back up.
But I did it all by my lonesome
Now I have to fix the dryer.....

I wish you courage.
I hate dealing with those things.
