It was horrid.
I'll be *so* glad when it's all over.

Are you telling me that if I spend a few days in NO, it's impossible for me to get from NO to Baton Rouge?????

New Orleans is only 80 miles away(1 hour at only 5-10 over the speed limit). I live a bit north of Baton Rouge. The store where I work is in Baton Rouge.
Maybe I should specify mid to late June, definitely after the eighth.

New Orleans has a lot more interesting things to see. On a Friday afternoon all you'd see is everyone driving into New Orleans.

The list basically says, "Wander aimlessly about and see New Orleans". We don't go in for heavy planning.

I always preferred the area around the French Market. The French Quarter, Jackson Square, Confederate Museum, Aquarium of the Americas, Margaritaville Cafe and the D-Day Museum are all within walking distance. Of course, if you would like a guided tour, that can be arranged(Mike knows where all the bars are, and is willing to buy the first round of Hurricanes at Pat O's).

That's an awful lot to see!! I hope there's somewhere at each of these attractions where we can sit down, have a drink and contemplate what we've seen.
And a guide who knows where all the bars are is *always* welcome. In fact, a guide who *doesn't* know where all the bars are would pretty soon find himself out of a job!

In less than 30 posts we've managed to make it from the Spanish Inquisition to drinking in New Orleans. There are lots of places to sit and have a contemplative drink, a not so contemplative drink, an apathetic drink...

What would you like to eat with those drinks? Cajun and Creole food can be a bit surprising. Or at least that's what I've been told by a few tourists

*is Cajun (and a few other things)*
*doesn't hold back the hot peppers, tabasco sauce, cayenne...*
Emeril Lagasse has some good recipes too. My favorite recipes are the ones that were passed down from my grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Actually, the hottest food I ever ate was at a Nepalese restaurant in San Francisco. I had *no* idea it would be *that* hot.
