h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Woodpigeon is making a tour of the northwestern US, and sharing pics about it on FB. I came across one, popped over to his profile to suss out his route thus far, and came to the conclusion that I'd lost the chance to meet him--not that I'd been on his route anyway. Sometimes, it's good to be wrong! Turns out he was going to be coming back down the coast (reversing Tom's and my honeymoon routing, actually) and we're meeting up tomorrow. Even better, the rain forecasted earlier this week to be starting tomorrow has been pushed back to the next day. It's going to be more of an early/midafternoon whistlestop more than anything else, but I'll have a chance to show someone one of Crescent City's lighthouses (the other being 6 miles offshore instead of being walk-to-able at low tide).

Have funand please give him my regards and he'll have a warm welcome if he ever gets Cleethorpes way

Gnomon--He'll be driving down Highway 101 from Crescent City to Arcata today (actually, he should be in Arcata by now, unless further delayed by photographic needs ), with directions to use the scenic parkway, and he'll be continuing on to San Francisco tomorrow. There is no way he'll miss seeing redwoods

Would the Liliputians or Borrowers have Micromeets?

In 2007, I encountered a Micro-Meet (one other), then a Sub-Meet (3 others), another Micro (one other), and then a Sub-Small-Meet (2 others) - - - all in 14 days. This was later termed a Staggered Meet.

If you lived on the wrong side of the tracks, you could have a track meet.
