Milla, h2g2 Operations

I have dieted, once. Using those ultra low calories powder mixes. It worked, but the weight came back. As it does.

I would like to not love bread so much, because the low carb-high fat diet sounds good in all other respects. But bread is so tasty, and especially since R bakes for us all the time...

But now, I have decided that 71 kg is 8 too many (actually, I was 55 kg before kids, but let's be slightly realistic now... and I'm 160 cm) and R recommended an online log which helps me estimate how much I eat. So, I'm trying it. It's way too easy to eat too little, three days in, it keeps saying I must eat more to not go into starvation mode. On the other hand, that allows me to get a bit of brie in the evening, and enjoy it guilt free.

I'm not going to promise updates and progress reports. It might happen, it might not. I might give up any day, and go back to my regular habits. But it would really be nice to be able to wear more of what's in my closet.

I've tried one of those online tools once. It was quite interesting. But I got bored after 2 months. Then again, in 2 months one can get used to estimate the food in a different way.
smiley - goodluck with it. Losing weight is always a challenge (exept for those who want to put on some kilos).

I've never had to diet before, but a year of inactivity and time spent baking cakes has made me weigh more than I am comfortable with.

I think I'll join you, I need to lose 8kg, I refuse to buy bigger clothes!

I've tremendously low self-control though, we had salad for supper, but then I got tempted by a pastry that insisted I eat it later.... smiley - wah This is going to be hard!

I bought a big bar of chocolate yesterday because it was cheaper than a small one (smiley - yikessmiley - steam). I had to ask Mr Vip to hide half of it so that I didn't eat it all in one sitting. smiley - blush

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

Which online calculator are you using, Milla? I could do with losing a kg myself.

I have the same problem as Vip, the bigger smiley - choc bars at the moment are better value than the smaller ones and what else do you do when you're sat watching telly of an evening smiley - winkeye

It's Myfitnesspal. I refuse to count today - confirmation day for son means cake. And nice dinner.
But back on it tomorrow.
I think I'm bored with it already though smiley - biggrin

It's useful when you are eating stuff from packets, because you can scan the barcode and it automatically pulls up the calorie content. If you make stuff from scratch, however, it's a bit of a faff because you have to estimate what you've cooked. Although I suppose that's the same for any calorie counting diet.

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side...

I used some of the online calory lists, and looking at information on products on the online grocery shops, to get 'an idea' of what sor of calories were in various things, then just sort of estimated from there, and basically just reduced portion size, and didn't really cut anything out of my diet, just eating less of it... four stone plus lost so far, (whatever that is in KG) and I'm not exactly starving myself (fails to mention home made baguette with egg and bacon just consumed for breakfast/lunch) smiley - blush Slowely is meant to be good, though its proving expensive for clothes, as in the last... err, maybe 18 months, I've had 36 inch waist jeans, 34 inch, and now the 32 are getting loose on me smiley - blushsmiley - diva

4 stone - 25 kg - that is a LOT! smiley - applause

I'm trying to reduce portion size, and not just eat because there *is* food, or until I'm really full. And avoid wheat and sugar. Except yesterday smiley - whistle...

Come to think of it, I should probably have something for lunch now.

Yeh... I forget just how much I've lost, and then, just for fun, dig my old suit out of the cupboard... Clearly I've lost nothing across the chest (still 48 to 50 inchs), but the trousers smiley - snork yeh, could just about fit two of me now, into those trousers smiley - blush and, at one point they fitted me... I think they're beyond* 40 inch waist smiley - blushsmiley - diva

I've not given up anything I like eating, bread, pasta, bacon, eggs, etc, cheese, ham etc... just reduced down how much of it I eat, and probably reduced down on takeaway consumption too, I never had things like sugar in coffee, and never drunk can/fizzy drinks, so didn't need to cut htem out, and I've never been a huge choc eater (though I do have some from time to time smiley - droolsmiley - blush )
My heaviest weight was a about 2001, and I lost a fair bit, a while after that, then just sort of stayed the same for ages, until the last couple of years smiley - zen If* I get down to a 30 inch waist, from 32 I'll have a smaller waist than I did when 16 years old smiley - wowsmiley - divasmiley - magic Mind, would still be nice to loose the ... 'gut' above* my waist a bit more smiley - blush
