Yes it should be a song smiley - biggrin
But it isn't. In Oban ther is a sign for Crianlarich, and one in Inverness and one in Stirling and possibly Perth too, so as I say, "All roads lead to Crianlarich"

As to F&M up here, well, when I went away for the weekend a couple of months ago, all the places on the west coast were closed, however up north (north west) everywhere was open. Mostly anything owned by Scottish Heritage is closed. smiley - sadface Very depressed I was too.

Summer? I thought we had it? What with all this constant rain, I thought it was autumn now smiley - winkeye

Hope your phonecall was worth getting off h2g2 for smiley - winkeye

I think I'm gonna have to go away and write this song! I just love the sound of it so much.smiley - smiley

I hope not everywhere is still closed in August.smiley - sadface It's bad enough The Lakes being a 'no go' area, but I'd kinda set my heart (and camera) on going back to Scotland.smiley - sadface How about the islands? What's the situation there? *thinks about Oban*

The phone call was very pleasant indeed.smiley - smiley I'm sure he was just trying to sell me insurance really though.smiley - winkeye

I don't know, they try anything these people.

I will let you know about the situation when I can find some info out. I got a National Trust for Scotland brochure thru last week, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. maybe tonight, when I get back. Plus I have a couple of websites i can check out too. smiley - smiley

As to the song, tell me what you want, place names etc, and we shall see what we come up with. smiley - winkeye

"Whell now, whould you look aat thaat. Topping the charts for yhet anohtther week, it is that new duo, with their modern popular muhusical traaak. 'All Roads Lead to Crianlarich'." ;-D

smiley - laugh A snatch of a tune came to me when I was out in the car a while ago... had to rush and record it as soon as I got in.smiley - winkeye Haven't stopped humming it since, mind!smiley - musicalnote I reckon we're onto something here! Play any instruments?smiley - bigeyes

Yes... I guess some place names and local landmarks would be a good idea... 'I was travelling down such-and-such road...' ... 'I passed the old whatchamacallit' ...and so on.smiley - smiley

Be nice to know where's open, and whether it's worth the journey. Not sure where I'll go otherwise... Italy sounds tempting...

Instruments? How does Drums(reasonably), Cornet(not for many years, but can still get a note out of it), percussion of varying degrees, Didgeridoo(badly, can't get the breathing correct). Strum the odd chord on a guitar. Would love to play bass, and my singing voice isn't bad either. You should hear my version of White wedding or Teenage Kicks. smiley - winkeye (and I'm not joking about those either smiley - bigeyes)

Italy always sounds tempting. (never been yet tho.)
