I am so jealous. Since I can't go to the Scottish meet, that was the main force behind coming down for this one. I would love to go to the Manchester one, but don't see how. I have no idea when I'll next get a chance to go. Lets face it, it took me over a year and 2 missed meets to finally make it down. Though we have had about 4 or 5 meets up here for one reason or another, so not so bad. I just can't believe we have been asking Mark et al to try and get up here for one, and if they come in a couple of weeks, and I can't go, I'll be devastated. Ever thought of coming up here yourself?
I'd like to arrange another scottish one for nearer the end of the year. As to the next London one (Nov or Dec, I suppose) the sooner it is organised, the cheaper it will be for me to arrange to come down and so becomes far more viable. Chances are though it will end up on one of my dodgy weekends. They nearly always do.
I am sure the other researcher will appear in other photos. I think Phil might have taken one.
Well, even if you don't see phil when he comes over, he said he was going to Manchester anyway, so you'll get to spend plenty of time with him then.
Sleep well, and I'll try and take care
for you to.

I'd love to go to a Scottish meet, but in two weeks time is not viable for me. Might be having a holiday there this year... I want to go camping, depending on F&m situation.
Manchester is not at all certain... I'll only go to that if my other plans are cancelled (again thanks to f&m) I suppose I could say it's a no lose situation.
I took a few photos myself, but the only one I really remember photographing was Menza, cos he kept hiding! It'll be fun to see who I 'captured' when I get them developed. Even if people were having trouble focusing.
"Have a nice day" as they say, apparently. I've got to get the car MOTd this afternoon... yay! Wheels again.
It is Tuesday, isn't it? My brain seems to have skipped straight ahead to Wednesday, which is another busy day.

Well, rest assured I'll let you know well in advance of the next one.

Yes I remembered the unfocusing camera of yours when i lurked round another thread, reading your post I wondered if you meant me specifically
I remember taking photos with your camera, I also remember you getting somebody to take a photo or two with it. Hah, there might even be one of us
Such a busy person aren't you
Will chat soon, promise.

I wanted to get someone to take a photo of you, me and Phil at Kings Cross, but I just didn't feel up to it.
I hope there's some good ones in there. Still got around twenty on this film to use up, so it may be some time before they get online. Think I took a few on my previous film though, so perhaps I'll take that in for developing today.
Christmas should be a fun meet-up. Peta liked my idea of a photo-scavenger hunt, which would be hilarious. Christmas in Scotland would be excellent too.

Oh so much to think about.
You know I never used my camera once? Silly really. I had hoped to get some specific photos but then thought, "can't be bothered, having too much fun" I never get around to posting them anyway. Hopeless casde, me
I like the idea of a Photo Scavenger hunt. We have them here at work occassionally. Fun night out. Plus all the photos get put up with lots of silly captions.

They do that at h2g2 too.
It would be a good laugh me thinks. I'm also hoping for an h2g2 camping trip...

LOL
I don't know, you must be addicted.
Camping trip, Port Merion, Alton Towers (that would be fun), plus the other meet-ups

It's even better meeting researchers IRL don't you think?
The more often, the better, to my mind.
I also happen to want to go to all those places anyway, but a camping trip to Alton Towers was discussed last year by some of us... ended up going to North Wales instead though, and only the four of us.
Going on the rides would definitely have to come before the drinking!

Naturally. yes I remember thinking I might be able to go. I think I read the forum, but maybe didn't post. Blimey imagine we could have met each other before now!
That's why i like the scottish meets. For some reason we seem to have a few of them, because it is fairly easy for us to get together.
A core of about 10 of us, plus assorted extras who can or cannot make it. The Glasgow Project helped immensely with that. have you read that article of mine yet? I know it kind of stops, but that was due to Rupert, and I never have got the rest of the info to finish it off.
*sigh* It's in production now. I got a CD with loads of pics and my film on it. LOL. I should see if I can get it to you somehow. make you laugh anyway.

Article? Must check that out...
Any and all of those meet ideas would be great. I did consider going to the Scottish meet last year... think it clashed with something on the following day though.
How many meets have you been to then?
Londinium
Babel17 Posted Jul 10, 2001
One London.
4 Scottish, plus a couple of mini meets related to the project.
All since August. You mean you could have come up to the Scottish one?
I could have met you last year? I have a feeling of Fate throwing his hand in here.

All things happen for a reason...
Will go into that more some other time maybe.
Problem with Scotland is I wouldn't want to come home again. Getting back here from London on the other hand was a pleasant relief.
Except for the goodbyes.

Don't you'll start me off again
yes we could go into that in more detail some other time.
Good thing about Scotland is that it isn't going anywhere, so you should never feel sad about leaving it.

What does make me feel about Scotland is all the disused and disassembled railways. When I think of all the men's sweat and lives even that went into building those, and then...
Make a lovely photographic project though...

True, but then that was predominantly down to Mr Beeching, wasn't it.
I feel sad for the lovely viaducts I see crumbling away. There is a particular area that would make a fantastic walking route, but as far as I know it isn't possible

I also have a particular area in mind... near Loch Earn (hell, can't even remember if I spelt that right now) I think it was...
Just remembered another meet-up idea discussed... the Rocky Horror Picture Show! Another one for Port Meirion perhaps...
G'nite.

You know it?! A lot of dismantled bridges though... deliberate vandalism from Mr B. and
Stunning countryside... *drifts away on a cloud of dreams*

Yep, drive past it a couple of times a year. I love to overtake people on the windy road up the valley towards Lixx Exchange and the road to Killin. I use it to get over to Crianlarich.
Did you know all roads lead to Crianlarich? (well I think so anyway. Plenty of places throughout Scotland with signs to Crianlarich, hence my assumption)
yep, one reason you couldn't walk it, I suppose. Shame. I love to play 'Spot the old road' or 'Spot the old railway' The Borders is especially good for the latter. Makes me very sad. I am one of those people who wonder what it all used to look like way back when.
It's all stunning countryside, but then you obviously know that
When was the last time you came up?
(absently wonders when the next time she will be up.... )

'All roads lead to Crianlarich'... isn't that a song? It certainly should be! I can almost hear it now... nice and folksy, Clannad-type voices, and compulsory bagpipes in the background...
It's somewhere I'd both love to walk and photograph... been a while. Depending on f&m, I'm thinking of heading that way this summer. Any idea what the situation is there at present?
Gotta to go... phone's ringing.
