So I just went out to find Dewey - he's been out for about three hours and we try to have him in by 10pm so that we don't end up searching for him when we'd much rather be going to bed.

I stood outside the door and called him. He usually comes if he's nearby. I heard his collar bell and saw him running off towards some trees outside our previous apartment. I also saw a rather large bird landing on a branch in one of the trees. Now, it's pretty dark out there, but it seemed to me from the way that the bird was gliding that it might have been an owl, and not a small one.

He's off after it, he's halfway up the tree trunk, he's stalking the bugger, which in all honesty could quite possibly have ripped big lumps out of him. No matter, he's gonna have that sumbitch.

Then it flies away, I pull him off the tree and bring him in.

I thought this would be a diatribe about a certain shrub that
infests a certain light-colored house near the Potomac. Instead,
it's about a cat that thinks it can catch an owl.

I used to find when Buttons did something cute my ex used to call him 'our' cat but when he did something like that he called him 'your' cat

But I'll bet Dewey continues to get by on his looks.

His good looks and his adorable purr win me over every time...

In fact, he's just come back in, sat down by the sofa, given me that 'handsome and I know it' look, jumped up on the sofa, tried to get on my lap (which has the keyboard on it), and given me the 'I'm so in' cute, just look at how in' cut I am' look.

Good thing I didn't wash the comforter like I was planning on doing yesterday - then it might have taken a good few more of those looks and *lot* of purring to get round me

It wasn't a very wet throwup, it was dry food and it hadn't been inside him too long so it was easy to clean up with a paper towel (hope you aren't eating just now btw )

But I'll definitely be washing it on Monday. I try to avoid the laundry room on the weekend - it's too busy.

Its an abreviation of the name I first used for him here - He who makes the light in the shine even brighter

Well you have to admit thats one heck of a mouthfull

'He who' reminds me of the National Theatre of Brent's production of The Nativity. Jim Broadbent spent about five minutes trying to get that phrase out (as in 'He whom shall be called The Son of God), but couldn't get past 'Heem whom' and variations thereof

I wonder if it was as good / funny as the nativity play / panto we wrote! Somehow I think it probably was Mind you this week we have had someone contact us for a copy of the script. She runs a franchise for 'stagecpach' which is a theatre school. She has seen part of our script and wants to read the whole thing with a view to paying us to use it If its not quote what they want she asked us if we would consider writing something for her

It would be fab is something does come of it - can you imagine how good it would be to make a living writing and not having to go to work each day

That's what I heard, although I believe the same band who did Star Trekking also did 'Arthur Daley 'e's alright', so he probably had other songwriting income too.

Now he sits on California beach and writes new age music

I could learn to cope with that!
