Mrs Gosho's just come in.

Guess who was running around on the roof of the office as she was leaving the complex this morning

Mrs Gosho parked the car, walked over to the building and shouted 'Dewey!' . Then he suddenly became all sheepish and kind of 'Oh sh!t, I'm in trouble now', ran down the trunk of the tree next to the building and did his usual 'Hey, look at how lovable I am' routine.

He's not the slightest bit of a show-off, is he?

Hey, he chases owls, he fights with racoons, and he's ing cute He can afford to show off

Dewey shouldn't get too smug about his ability to conquer owls.

When my sister lived in the bush north of Thunder Bay, her big ol' gnarly tomcat was carried off by a hawk that was only slightly bigger than he.....

My sister lived up near Kakabeka Falls and Conmee but well out in to woods. Moose walked thru her yard, of a morning.

We've known for a long time that Dewey has a girlfriend - a white long haired cat called Peaches (sometimes called Carol) who lives in an apartment near the one we lived in when we first got him.

Seems like Peaches has herself a famous mum

Poor Dewey - he's got such a short memory

We've just had pretty good storm come through Austin, just about the time that we get up and let him out to... do what he has to do. When I first let him it wasn't raining too much, but a few minutes later it started coming down in sheets, and there was plenty thunder and lightning. A very bedraggled and wet cat washes up (literally) at the balcony door wanting to be let back in. He spends about 10 minutes licking himself dry, then wants to go out again

So I open the door, he gets about as far as the doormat and sees that it's still raining. 'Bugger that for a game of soldiers, I'm coming back in'.

Five minutes later, same thing.

Either he has a rather ephemeral memory or he's just very, very optimistic

Anyway, he's just gone out again... and it's started raining again

He has a cat's memory.

Benjamin often goes to the front door and begs to go out. I point out to him that it is too cold/wet/snowy/stormy for a kitty kat to be out-a-doors, but he needs definitive proof. So, I open the door for him to poke his nose out and decide that it is "too cold/wet/snowy/stormy for a kitty kat to be out-a-doors, why are you trying to force me out in THAT weather!"..... and then he heads to the back door where there will surely be a completely different weather system in force ("waht do you mean there is no wormhole at the patio-door?").

After repeating the same performance at the patio door, he goes to sulk for 5 minutes, and then tries the front door again....

Your cat probably thinks you're just diabolical with all your entrances into yucky alternative universes.

I'm getting a little concerned We let Dewey out this morning when we got back from the diner at about 11.30... it's now 7.15pm and we haven't seen him since. It's not like this is the first time he's stayed out this long - he's been gone for seven, eight, ten hours at a time in the past, but he doesn't do it very often and he hasn't done it for a while

And guess who just swanned in, all 'Where's my food then?' and 'Can I go back out now?'

8.15pm

Perchance, he has forgotten to turn his watch ahead?

By six hours?

And he's at the door pulling on the handle - the way he does when he wants to go out
