Get yer red-hot gold, frankincense and myrrh tokens here, only 6 mites apiece.
Sorry, ma'am, we can't let you in without a ticket. Those are Herod's rules, not mine.
Sonny, I can let you in for half-price, but only because your father is a shepherd.

I heard the fireworks and the noise on Christmas eve! First time I've ever noticed it and, yes, it sounded like it was coming from the direction of the square in front of that hotel. How weird that I've never noticed it before. T'was only the one night though.
Everyone have a nice Christmas?

Very nice, thank you
My first Christmas as a single man for 6 years, went back to my parents', and had a good night out in Stafford bumping into people who - in some cases - I hadn't seen since the Fifth Year at school, which was more than twelve years ago.
Also, having turned 29 a couple of weeks ago, considering the original subject of this thread, I got to thinking about the things I hadn't done.
I had a pleasant surprise - I thought about the things I *had* done, particularly this year, and I was quite happy with them. It seemed a decent showing for a bloke my age.

Perhaps you'd like to start a similar thread in your journal - Felonious has one going already
My Christmas was somewhat non-existant. Mrs Gosho and I took part in the Christmas Eve get-together at her dad's mum's place, so that was our Christmas dinner. Immediatelt afterwards, we came back to Austin, getting in at 11pm. On Christmas Day we spent time working on Ebay listings for next Thursday and doing laundry
I'm glad to say that I caught most of the Christmas Eve Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from Kings College Cambridge on NPR. It's a little strange to hear it at 9am instead of seeing it at 3pm

Hmmmm. I know where Oxford is (I've been there; I even sang in a concert there many years ago), but I have no idea where Cambridge is.
Is it near London?

Cambridge is roughly as far away from London as Oxford is - both in terms of time and distance. In compass terms, it's further East than Oxford. From London, it's maybe somewhere between North and North East?

Only due East would do that, I think... try this:

I saw Boston on the coast, and for a minute I thought you had goofed and given me a map of Massachusetts instead of England.

Indians are cool. There are a lot in the book I'm reading!!!
Cambridge has nothing on Oxford. Oxford all the way!!!

I'm not so keen on Oxford. To me it really can't work out what it is, is it an industrial city or a bunch of dreaming spires, it really hasn't worked itself out. Back when I used to spend a fair amount of time in that area, I never much cared for going into the city.
On the other hand, the countryside around Oxford absolutely knocks spots off of Cambridgeshire.

Knocks spots off!? That's cute!!! Oh you Brits and your witticisms!!!
Surely part of why I love Oxford is because the whole of Europe is still quite a novelty to me. Maybe if you grew up in the wild wild west of Colorado, you'd see Oxford differently. Well, surely you would.
YEEHAH!!!

Dragonfly, I'm confused by your comparison of Oxford and Cambridge.
Do you mean Cambridge, England, or Cambridge, Massachusetts?
