The snow today reminded me of what a pretty place I live in, so I got outside and took some photos before cycling to lectures (which reminded me that I live miles away from anywhere useful).

Those are great pictures!
I'm sorry you live far from useful places, though sometimes that's best. It can make you appreciate where your going more. "Where are you going today, dear?", "I'm going to the GROCERY STORE!". Or just give you a better workout. Or just be irritating. Sometimes, a little of all three.

Thanks.
A little of all three, yes you're right. I am pitied by friends who can just roll out of bed, cross the road and be at lectures, but I think if I didn't have to cycle every day I'd never see sunlight!

It also teaches you planning - when the nearest shop is 3 miles away you don't want to run out of milk.

Somehow snow looks better around those Old Country buildings... Nice shots.
If you start rolling a snowball at your doorstep and keep going until you get to class...

...you might be able to block the front of the building, thereby avoiding class altogether. You could then build a snow FORT. You could hold meetings and explain to people about the Guide!

As I'm not currently enrolled in a school, though, they may wonder what I'm doing there. Unless it's one of those really relaxed universities.

Hell - I'm 53 - I'll come and help shove it and we'll pretend I'm a touring lecturer in applied snow mechanics.

Beautiful! I'll keep a clipboard handy and we can make important calculations!

Must find out the reduction in velocity of a compact sphere of snow when projected at a target moving rapidly away from it, for starters.
Of course it would be important to measure the cohesiveness of snow, and how it affects building structures therewith...
Important stuff! Why hasn't anyone won an Ignoble for it yet?
