I just received a card through the post and the verse in it I find rather apt and I would like to share it with my friends.
Sometimes we rush and stumble over lifes uncertain way,
So often we forget to say the things we ought to say,
And if I sometimes fail to let you know whats in my heart,
I want to tell you now you play a most important part,
I may not always make it plain exactly how I feel,
But your a special friend and my love for you is real,
At Christmas time and always you are often on my mind,
A better friend in life I could never hope to find.
Over the years I have many friends that have passed on. Each one made an impact on my life and I will never forget them. I saw them at their best and at their worst.Through all the ups and downs of lifes journey.
I'm not very good at telling people how I feel I have a tendancy to keep it to myself.Because of my past I fell into the trap of what I want and how I feel doesn't matter. Well in 2010 I am going to try and break with that part of my past.
My good friend fireball helped by bringing something out of me that I had kept hidden for years. That is what started me thinking and to be honest I have been up most of the night thinking about it. It isn't going to be easy as these walls have been 43 years in the making and if I relapse occasionally I apologise.
Over the years as my friends past I became a recluse, the only times I have left the house is to take my children to school or to go to the shops and other necessary things.
I'm a very nervous person,it doesn't show on here as everyone is anonymous and there is always that certain distance between us. I find it difficult to find the courage to meet new people in person. In fact it scares me.
I felt it was important to write this where people could read it as it may stop people from shutting themselves away.No man is an island, we all need each other to get through. Don't shut the doors and barr the sunlight from your lives, swing them open wide and let the light in.When you feel like shutting those doors that is when you need your friends most.I can see that now for many years I couldn't.
Tell your frinds and loved ones how you feel.Don't shut yourself away.
That said I shall say goodbye to 2009, It has been a year of ups and downs, sadness and joy but not one of regret as it has taught me valuable lessons.

Hang on in ther, aneyvin. Sometimes the odest things happen, which give you hope, & make you cry & get the nasty stuff out.
We lost our doggy around Christmas time, she was P (my partner)s longest, most loved friend in his life; he was devastated & it wasn't a pretty ending; i sat with her all night.
But he managed to get it together to go & visit his family abroad, Mum is 94 & had two major ops in one week around the same time doggy passed over.
Do you know what has helped him over all this?
*Someone* anonymously sent us a book called "Dog Heaven"; seems to have come via UK maybe Amazon...but no note, message etc. That's *real* charity, they aren't doing it for praise or gratitude.
It's a lovely, comforting book but also the thought that *someone, somewhere* cared enough to do that gives you hope that the humanoids aren't all bad, some are extremely good.
May i add you to my fiends list & invite you to post on my Eye thread (Journal; ask Prof Animal!)
Take care, stay zen.

I would be honoured to count you a friend Terri, I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my dog Alpha some years ago so I can understand how you feel hun.
Some of the things I have been through will never leave me but they get easier to live with as time passes. Occasionally a stray memmory will return and bring me crashing down for a while but give me a few days or so and I will get back up again.
My mother died when I was nine years old but in the past few years I have sat with my grandfather who was 93 and my father who was 72 as they died.It was a strange momment as I left the hospital. My world had fallen apart and yet workmen were digging in the street, busses were running and other people were getting on with their lives blissfully unaware of what was going on.
But life goes on,the kids will still grow up to have familys of their own,the rain and snow still falls from the sky and the sun still rises every day.

Added you to my fiends list, please feel welcome to add me to yours...be warned, most of my fiends are somewhat 'off their trolley'!
(Prof Animal is probably the sanest)
*sigh* losing parents when young is horrible BUT worxse to me is watching others of my sort of age going through that loss as adults, such as Willem, Aye Bee wench, JEllen...at least we've got that trauma over & dealt with it.
We have a new puppy! She is nothing at all like beloved Edda, but we need a doggy in our lives. She's a Golden Labrador Retriever, 12 weeks old now, called Woolie Bear; a big happy ball of yellow fluff!

ahhh a brilliant little furball Well we had a cat walk into our lives as a kitten at the time as a friend of my daughters cat had escaped from her flat for a while and came home pregnant, so she had two kittns to rehome, one she called topsy and the other tipsy, after hearing what these to were like I said of the black and white one that it wasn't a topsy it was a mischief and that sealed it. He came to stay with us over 5 years ago and he lives up to his name

Well can't say I didn't try,I tried but it didn't work out.In future I will keep my thoughts and feelings to myself.Dad was right, what I want and feel doesn't count for nowt in this world. So its back on with the smile no matter what and everything is fine
