I've got that classic celebration scene from 'Spaced' going through my head... smiley - wowsmiley - somersaultsmiley - footballsmiley - doh

Maybe my luck is finally changing.

1) My new mobile has finally arrived and I've just charged it up amd registered it. Technojoy! Providing I don't lose it in the interim, I'll be re-connected to the Orange network as of about ten minutes from now...

2) I just got an email from BBC Radio London saying can I go to Barnet v Arsenal on Saturday and help out, and also that they should have some more dates matches for me to cover for them in the coming season.

Seeing as I'd been worrying quite a lot about whether they'd want me back, this comes as a massive relief! So I've got a Big Daft Grin currently plastered across my chops.

smiley - wow Hey, I might even get to interview Arsene Wenger again! Although no prospect of a rematch with the Chuckle Brothers... smiley - sadface

You're kidding me aren't you GD? Jeez, when I were a lad they'd have only just finished the home internationals, and there wouldn't be any more footie until almost September.

Actually that's not entirely true - they'd have finished the home internationals before June was out I reckon. But as for the idea of the football season beginning before the first Test Match of the season has even been played... well I think I'll be looking very closely at the fabric of the space-time continuum.

And well done Six smiley - cheers

The Barnet v Arsenal game is a pre-season friendly. The real action doesn't kick off until the second week in August.

Come on, you didn't think that Barnet was in a proper league match with Arsenal did you? How long have you been away from this country!? smiley - headhurts

As for the Liverpool game: well that one was deadly serious. It's their first game in the early qualifiying stages of their defence of Champions League.

Well I figured that Arsenal v Barnet would be a friendly, although I'm so out of touch with footie, and have been since the day West Ham won the World Cup smiley - bigeyes that Barnet could well be in the Premier League AFAIC smiley - tongueout

Who's FC United?

Like AFC Wimbledon were set up by genuine fans of the club when the 'franchise' move to Milton Keynes and the creation of the Milton Keynes Dons was permitted by the FA, FC United were set up last month by hardcore fans of Manchester United objecting to the takeover of the club by Malcolm Glazer.

So it should be quite a positive day, with lots of 'proper' football people there.

Incidentally, FC United are starting out in Division Two of the North-West Counties League, which is something like ten promotions away from the Premiership. And one of the teams they'll be playing is Eccleshall, the town/village I grew up in, and played for when I was a teenager.

Mind you, and I'm not really complaining here, but I'm starting to have all my usual worries about somehow bungling things and generally not being quite up to it. I ought to be fine though smiley - zen
