h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Everybody knows by now...and everyone that doesn't soon will..

*smiles* you see....during the loooooooooooooooooong time i've been away from h2g2..something very very nice...

no...not nice...

grr...i hate this language...never the right words...can't think of one that does it justice.. Ah well...i know Pavel will know exactly how i mean it..

strange really..the only people that'll read this are likely to already know what's happened...it's pretty much certain that they will...

*smiles* so people mostly know the end of the story...but..now that all the old forums are being checked through...no-one can know how it all started...shame really...no-one gets to see the funny bits...

*drifts off into story-telling mode...which is really a bit too short...but well..*

Long, long ago...on a website not so far away..right here on my very first day on h2g2, in fact...a guy called Paul Prefect saw a scared little newbie called Eomando and took pity and said "hello"... Or something along those lines anyway...

Eomando jumped out of her skin...never having talked to anyone on the net ever before..replies straight away and spends the next hour or so on the edge of her seat waiting for him to reply...except that she'd just missed him...and's a little disappointed....then hopes and hopes he'd be on the next day..

The next day comes and she waits again for a reply...then jumps for joy when she sees his name on the on-line users list.. something she always did and never figured out until far too late..but at least she realised in the end..

*grins* of course...something always has to happen to change things a bit.. you see...something shocked PP...something that hadn't quite clicked.. and that happened when he found out i was a girl......*not* a guy after all he thought.. and i'm never ever *ever* going to let him forget that!!! *grins* yes...of *course* Vicki is short for Victoria and *not* Victor..

*smiles* but..after that's out the way and he gets over the shock..which didn't actually take that long...things just get better..

first the number of smileys increase.....then the odd snuck in here and there.. until...one day...they were *everywhere*...i couldn't talk to him without smiling.. See...i can't even stop myself smiling now just *thinking* about him.. *ahem*...but..yes...anyway...it got to the point where normal smiley's couldn't describe the type of smile...they just weren't enough....'s were much more fitting.. well...that was when the smiley's were a bit different too..

So, suddenly there were 's *everywhere*...and there still are even now..you can see that easy enough...

well..not too long after...we find a way to still talk even though Pavel couldn't be online until weekends...we'd missed a very obvious way of filling the void of weekdays....e-mail...very simple....but we missed it...

then again...we more than made up for the time we'd forgotten about it...for the next year...we spent every day mailing each other...even when we were able to talk every single night... *smiles* i spent *hours* just writing to him...and we never ran out of things to say to each other even when we'd spent all day writing every thought that came into our heads..

*grins* i'm almost sure no-ones ever written longer mails than we have to each other..

*smiles as she thinks about it..*

after e-mail came letters...long long letters...wonderful letters...letters that i've got stuck up on my wall at uni...crumbs...they fill and entire wall!

*smiles* we *finally* got to meet at the beginning of October...walked around London at night...and i told him that i loved him in Hyde Park...got...erm..."dodgy" looks off all the people walking past from kissing him....you'd think they'd never seen anything like it before... red lights were definitely a problem...people in cars are far too nosey when they don't have to go anywhere..

*smiles* i've known him so so long...and there's never been a single time he's said anything to make me cry...he's never upset me...always always been there for me... and i know i've even hurt him at times...but he's still been there..and sometimes i wonder how he's managed to put up with me...but he has..

*smiles* and then one wonderful night...he holds me close and whispers a question in my ear...a very very wonderful question..

and then i said "Yes, Pavel...of course i'll marry you.."

I would like to question the statement that no one has written as many long e-mail as you on PP, but then that is only on the premise that me nad FC find ourselves in exactly the same boat after all.
The fact that we ahve a number of e-mail accounts purely open to archive all our e-mails is besides the point.

Let me just say again CONGRATULATIONS. Although I'm sure only those who already know will actually read that post the whole way through.

Well...i had to write something now that h2g2's back...and then i couldn't really stop...

same sort of things with e-mails...start at about 9 in the morning and finish at 6 at night and only just finish so i could get online..

we'd probably have a book if we put them all together...a very very very very looooooooooong book........

Yeah I know the feeling. We have so many of ours as well. It would be an interesting book. At least to me and FC at any rate.

jesus... I run around checking on all the old friends I haven't talk to since I went off into the wild middle east, and the first two I look at are engaged... tatty and eo both. my oh my. congratulations, if you ever check this again, and no I didn't know the story till I read the journal...

loreth have seen Eomando of PP around here for a long time.

No idea what their latest news is and I can' get on ICQ at the moment to check.

awwwwh... people *remembering* us!!

Now that's something I never expected to see.... I mean.. OK.. we don't get to be on h2g2 that much any more... and when I've checked.... once every two weeks or something... it's always just been to be sure no one's said anything to us.......

It's nice to know some people still know us though... DD, you and FC had a phase when you weren't on for a long time too, I thought...?

Well.... you know how it is...... when you're in love..... you spend all the time talking and forgetting about everything else....


.....well.... and really the only reason I'm on now is that Vicki can't come on.... Uni computers down.... ahh well... at least I know what's wrong, thanks to the wonders of mobile phones..

latest news....? Umm.... More in love than ever... Ummmm.... applied to a couple of uk universities, hope it will work out, in desperate need of a sponsorship..... but wellllll.....

Hmm... Io.. *tries to recall where he's met ioreth before.. the name sounds familiar... only.... most of the backlog's gone....* Umm... snowball fights.....? Sorry if I'm wrong...

Snowball fights it must be Glad to hear things are just as ecstatic as in the *pretty damn ecstatic I must say* journal entry. I'm happy for you (and a teensy bit jealous to meet my own special somebody* anyhoo, congratulations!

Of course they are... no other way for them to be, as you'll know for sure when you do find your special somebody... And... snowball fights... thought so...
