SF's NaJoPoMo 2014 : November 1st - Marathons

Two weeks ago, several friends/colleagues of mine took part in the half-marathon and/or the 10-kilometer race in our city.
More precisely, three signed up for the half marathon, four signed up for the 10km, for a total of five people taking part.
Of the two colleagues who did both, only one finished both. And he was very sore for the whole week after.

My colleagues are crazy.

I did not take part in the race, for several reasons.
First, my job was to look after their things, and cheer them on.
Secondly, I had already taken part in a marathon the previous weekend.
Thirdly, I hate sports.

All right, I'll be honest, the marathon I went through (along with three friends/colleagues) was a Harry Potter movie marathon.
And we failed.
We only managed five out of the eight.

But the reason for doing it originated a few months before...

Well, we started the first film around 2pm on the Saturady, so of course at the end of it, we had to stop for a nibble, and then after the second one it was time for dinner, so we only went through three movies on the first day.
And on the Sunday we started around the same time, and had a nibble before going on to the 5th film, and then it was time for one of us to catch his train home so that was it. smiley - shrug
It was a lot of fun, though.
smiley - ok

The last marathon we did was a Battlestar Galactica one, we only managed five in one session though, far too many games to play smiley - winkeye

I will run marathons when pigs fly -- or when grizzly bears chase me.

I can't resist passing on my grizzly bear-running story. This story is absolutely true (yeah right).

I was walking in the Rocky Mountains with a friend when, to our initial joy then horror, a fully grown Grizzly stepped onto the path in front of us.'What do we do?' said my friend. 'Best get running', I said, bending down to remove my boots and put on my running shoes (Adidas Oregon's were my favourite choice back in ye).

'What are you doing?' said my friend, 'you won't out run a Grizzly.' 'I don't have to', I said, 'I only have to out run you.'
