So if you were stranded on an island and could only have five books, which books would you pick?

Right. Like anyone reading this needs more stuff to kill their time ...

I give you my latest online time-wasters:
www.stumbleupon.com -- You get a loverly search bar that you can customize. Let's say you're this Dragonfly character from hootoo and you are interested in cooking, puzzles, poetry, graphic art, mythology ... things like that... you tell stumbleupon.com that you like those things. You can surf around in one category at a time, or all of your preferred categories. Stumbleupon.com finds sites it thinks you will like. The more time you spend rating sites, the smarter it gets. Fantastic.
www.pandora.com -- Musical madness. Let's pretend your this Dragonfly person from hootoo and you want to listen to Johnny Cash and Joni Mitchell and Cake and The Beatles and other such music. Yes, you could use the virtual iPod link you found using stumbleupon.com, but since you first found pandora.com and remember reading about it in one of your favorite magazines, called Mental_Floss, you slowly get a bit addicted to pandora.com (which you also like because of the mythological reference) and it helps you pass the time while you paint.
http://www.jigzone.com/ -- Does more need to be said? This site times you and shows how your time compares to others who have done the same puzzle.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/everydaymatters/ -- The Every Day Matters Yahoo! Group. Let's say you're this Dragonfly from hootoo. You like creative things. You would like to draw. You found an awesome book at a book sale called "The Creative License" and soon you went online to the author (Danny Gregory)'s site and soon he led you to this Yahoo! group that connects you with artists and other creative beings and it's really a fine place to start off lurking for other creative souls -- have you seen a sketchblog? These are things of beauty, things this Yahoo! group will bloody hook you up with.
Thanks for the read.

Hello from Dragonfly
Posted Oct 3, 2006
Hello again ...
Wow, much has changed in my life since I was last here-- I moved in with Virgo2 (his name is Alex) and lived with him and his parents for almost a year (gotta make sure you can get along!) before we started our life in a high rise in Denver, Colo.
And I love it there.
I have also been working at a community Web site and print section of The Rocky Mountain News for about a year and a half. Nice work.
I'm still online and blabbing away. You can find me here nowadays: http://denver.yourhub.com/~MusingsOfTabithaDial
Keeping a blog at work is a little more formal than being Dragonfly on hootoo. But there are a tonne more pictures.
Hope you are all well.

Things I'd like out of life
Posted Apr 24, 2005
two weeks in Italy
time on Crete
visit with Lady Pennywhistle in Jerusalem
more kisses from Virgo2
flight courtesy of Virgo2
poker lessons/games with Virgo2
internship in Turkey
visit St. Petersburg with my friend Julie
spend time with Julie, in person, at least once every two years
touch down on all seven continents
publish at least one book
live happily: write and contribute for a living*
receive random roses.... at least once...
have a bath drawn for me without asking
Rethink grad school and travel plans in one year
And perhaps... Scotland and Ireland
*this means that I never run into debt and I can support myself and any dependents. Contribute means volunteer work/caring for others as well as submitting to various publications.
...I initially wrote these before the interview for the newspaper became a reality. I still love the concept of all of this... but my freedoms are about to go bye bye, I fear...

Getting Past Pain/Resentment
Posted Apr 22, 2005
I deserve apologies.
But what I really want is to move on and be "on top" of things and happier.
I must change. I must stay away from as much stress as possible. I must burn away what upsets me.
Maybe this means I'm not on hootoo for awhile... I dunno what it means. I need a bloody nap, for a start.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
