Jen is THE Jewel, as far as I am concerned. I am going to take some me time tomorrow between class and my appointment. I have no idea what I will be doing but it will be just me. I will leave the kids in day care and Jen will be at work.

Ayup. Some nice Jimmy Choos should cheer you right up!
Aside from the tiredness thing from exercise, if you do enough of it at one fell swoop it will cause your brain to release endorphins which will make you feel all good and cheery, because that is what endorphins do.

I think shoe shopping must be a girl thing. I've never met a man who liked to go shoe shopping. "It fits. It's black. It's cheap. I'm buying it."
I like shoe shopping because I never have to worry about fat feet. Big feet, yes. Fat feet, no.

Alas, shoe shopping will not work for me, I recently bought new dress shoes and don't need everyday shoes yet. I actually ended up taking a nap which was a mistake, I slept wrong and have had a sore neck since I woke.
I went and did the intake appointment today. This is the appointment where you tell your story. I should be assigned to a therapist in the next week, it may be the same from today's appointment, I should be meeting with the psychiatrist within a week of my first therapy session.
Thank you all again for all of your support! You all have made this much easier for me and I am eternally grateful.

Hey, ya' know, half the battle in dealing with depression is not having to go it all alone. And I think we can safely say that the Hootoo support group is a big and loving one.

It is indeed, one could wish it was more real time or that people were closer in proximity though.
Today has been a Topsy-turvy day. I cannot wait to begin my therapy and meds, I absolutely *HATE* feeling this way.

Sorry I'm so late to the thread Zomnker, glad you are making positive steps and that Jen is supporting you.
Be kind to yourself

You are welcome at any time kelli.
I have discovered that sleep deprivation definitely contributes to my down feelings. I had the use of Jen's car today, the caveat was I had to take her to work which means I was up earlier than normal. I ended up missing racquetball because of the down feelings, I felt better after getting a couple more hours of sleep. Still a bit down but I will be ok. I have begun rereading Feeling Good by David Burns, it was a good read 5 years ago, should be good again.

I was listening Friday to an interview on Fresh Air with Teri Gross and the novelist William Styron. He suffered from clinical depression, and he said that without his network of friends, he wouldn't have survived. They were always calling him up and asking how he was doing. Some days, a little better. Other days, not so good. But he said that he knew it could only get better.
He wrote a book about his experiences called "Darkness Visible: A Memoir of Madness." Without having read the book, I recommend it - it sounded fascinating.

I think a lot of things look better when I'm well rested. Hope you are getting enough sleep today, GDZ.

Two fitful nights of sleep in a row and this morning I wake up with anxiety, no reason for it that I can discern.

(coming over from lurking in the Atelier)
Did you get an appointment to start therapy?
I'll post more if I can think of anything helpful. In the meantime I send my best wishes to you and the ones close to you.

So do I T, so do I. Jen and I had an argument of sorts this morning, it was not resolved before she got to work so, it has been on my mind all day. As of now, I will have nearly 7 hours until she is off work. I don't know that there will be a resolution today and it is making me rather to my stomach.

If it seems that I am mostly voicing my complaints in this thread, that is sort of by design. This is one of the few outlets that I truly have for my thoughts.
