Wouldn't Mama Be Proud?

You'd have to ask him - I'm just passing on the rumours.

I've even done a little housework while my parents are away in Canada. But I'm off to England tomorrow morning myself. Leaving the washing up in the sink. Is that bad of me?
I'll be back before them too, so it's not too bad.
Oh blast this! I'll go and do it.
TRiG.

I think it would be very unwise to leave the sink full of dishes for any length of time.

It's such a fine piece of work, and entirely relevant in this instance.

You sound thoroughly domesticated. Next it'll be doing dishes for laughs and balancing the checkbook for thrills.

Well, last night I cooked three days' worth of meals and put them in the freezer so we have good food to eat over Christmas and New Year. We're usually too tired to cook after work over the festive period and eat a lot of fast food, and the lack of nutrients leaves us feeling lethargic after a few days. I'm hoping that a couple of good feeds will keep us going a little longer.

I think you are scoring way more grown up points than I am! I'm mostly envious...

Well, Christmas doesn't really happen for us because my whole family works right through it. It's an odd and almost lonely time of year; Christmas is all over the TV and in the shops, I get Christmas cards and emails and so on, but I feel like a detached observer. It gets really depressing if I start to think about it too much, so the only solution really is just to keep busy and ignore the fact that it's going on at all.

I know, hunni I'll be thinking of you over the mad days. But you usually do things with family once the rush is over, right?
I ought to cook in advance for work lunches and dinners when the kids are with their dad, but somehow, it really is a horrible threshold to do. And this week, I actually had an extra lunch in the freezer, but Daughter decided to stop by, and ate it!

It could be worse... today could be your birthday.
All my friends are either out of town or working tonight.
I'll be at the pub anyway.
Merry Robmas

We get our stuff out of the way in advance - our Christmas Day was on Sunday. It is really nice to do that, but it means it's all over by the time Christmas actually comes around. It's harder to do that than to save it until afterwards, I think.
I haven't finished cooking yet - I still have a couple of soups to make, and I've made my own vegetable stock for one of them. And, of course, I have the whole kitchen to clean once again after last night's frenzy

You're right, Zero. I should pop out for a pint. I'm on my own again tonight, and this domestication is probably going just a little too far. Maybe just one more soup

Soups are good - a big pan of lentil and ham (courtesy of Dai) is on the stove, ready for any family members who call in (son's just let me know he'll be here at about 10.30 tonight, so woohoo! but now must go and make beds etc...)
