You're probably right, 4x4s are made for roads like ours. I was amazed at how narrow the lanes are when we were over there in September, how slender and high your freight trucks are. Our lanes are easily 25 to 50% wider ...

It's parking bays that need to be wider, 4x4's can't fit into parking bay's, you park between 2 4x4's and you have to be Victoria Beckham to get out of the car, we had no choice but to park between 2 of them even Alex had trouble getting out of our car

What's shocking is the fact that a Land Rover Discovery has an NCAP 3 rating whereas Stu's Focus C-Max has a 4 rating

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear } Posted Feb 17, 2008
What are these 'ratings' you speak of?

Reefgirl (Brunel Baby) Posted Feb 17, 2008
NCAP is a european safty rating system for cars the safest is a 5 star the lowest allowed on the road is 2 I think here it is http://www.euroncap.com/home.aspx
Stu's is a 4 star

An interesting idea, that rating system. I don't know if we have anything similar over here.

To perform the test they drive it at 40MPH into a concreate barrier and take note of what the damage is, I saw them show some of the damage to certain types of cars on Top Gear, it was truly shocking a Range Rover Discovery crumpled like a paper bag

Now would that be the white-suited dummies, with lots of checkerboarding? Or the musical group that has a few good tunes out?
