There is only one thing worse than being Gosho, and that is not being Gosho Posted Dec 31, 2014
I shall be taking a bath to wash off the stink of 2014, which has been an anus horrible for me, beginning with the Great Smouldering of Fort Gosho in January. My message to this ghastly year is 'Good bloody riddance and don't let the door hit your pimply arse on the way out!'.
Then I shall begin 2015 the way I mean to go on - with a glass of something or or or grasped firmly in one hand, and something or or or or (or possibly all of the above) in the other

Arch I know I'm unseasonably and unstereotypically chipper!
2014 was good for me- son having his London palladium do, daughter her sadlers Wells debut. I achieved running targets, despite breaking an ankle bone, and saw the kelpies and Hadrians wall.
Lots to look forward to next year - Eurovision in Vienna with Malabarista, and a wee med cruise in June!

OH.... 2014 was rather good here too... and 2015 should be too, also, if not moreso but... well... doesn't do to lift ones disguise of doom and gloom.... people might get the rong idea still hiding in bed... under the duvet... reading....

It wasn't a bad year, all in all.
Some shite things happened, some good things happened. Just like every other year I can remember, in fact.

Mine included a couple of.... quite astonishing things... which... kinda made it special... but.... lots of other stuff too, some of which was more good than others

Actually, I do make one concession to the celebrations. Every year, if I'm near a PC (and I do my utmost to make that happen), I listen to the midnight chimes of Big Ben on Radio 3, because they broadcast the preamble and all twelve bongs in their entirety.
Mission accomplished

Yeah, and I can never turn down a good drum and pipe band, I have to admit.
Also, I can't believe I'm saying this, but happy new year everyone.

I'm not going to bed now - it's only just got quiet around here. If I don't enjoy it now, I'll miss it completely.

I'm not fussed about New Year's Eve but if I'm invited to a party I don't mind a knees up, but then I don't get many invitations to parties.
For us, for the last 18 years, it's been a bit weird because Gruesome #1 was born on NYE in 1996. It was the first time I'd missed Dinner for One in ages, and since then we've tried to make the day more about her birthday.
Recently, of course, she's been off with her daft teenage mates for the evening, and so has Gruesome #2 (separately) and while I don't mind watching a bit of TV and a glass of at midnight, I don't feel the urge to party, and worry about drinking in case I get a call to pick one of them up somewhere (bail them out of a police cell or whatever).
My mum has been here this year, tbh, i really don't know what to do to entertain her

I can't really answer that. I don't really have any experience of raising daughters. As for your mother, you could try asking her.

Well, New Year is a time for looking forward and looking back. So you could sit her down with a nice cuppa and one of 's cakes and go through old photograph albums. Do it while the girls aren't around. They will be very cross with you for looking at pictures of them as babies

I just wished my old Dad a Happy New Year - he is in bed after falling down the stairs a day or so ago - and his reply was "meh"
Oh well! Onwards and upwards...

I don't know what Sho's mother is like, so I don't want to tell Sho how to entertain her own mother. That is why I suggested asking the woman herself. But I know it isn't always as easy as it it seems.

oh I do ask - "whatever you want to do" - arghhh... what I want to do when I'm not working is read, study and sleep
We're going for a walk around the village so that will use up 5 minutes

My New Year's Eve tradition is to spend the evening at the home of a friend and his wife. This year was sadder than most, as the friend is being treated for esophageal cancer, and can't eat normally. Some kind of tube runs from his mouth down to his stomach . His wife is changing careers -- from teaching to selling insurance. So, there's plenty of figurative dust in the air looking for a place to settle.
Nonetheless, we had a good time. We watched a video of "Oz the Great and Powerful," starring James Franco.
2014 was mostly all right, until I totaled my car hitting a median strip curb on the last day of November . It was a small miracle that I was unscathed. I'm now driving a newer version of he model that was destroyed. So far, so good. .
if I have a New year's resolution it is to do less night driving. During the daylight hours I have an easier time spotting curbs up ahead in time to avoid hitting them....
