I never bothered to "research" it. I just remembered that the first season here, they made such a big deal of it being a proven hit in other lands. Still, I don't see the attraction. Unless you're a natural voyeur, or like to see loads of personality conflicts. And I see more than enough of the latter in an average w*rking day.

Speaking of which, I'm 'enjoying' mine by testing a radio unit that is probably only a couple of years younger than you. Having found and replaced a few worn out bits. What kinds of joy, fun and whoo-hoo-thrills are making up your Friday?

Too bad it couldn't be "dads", eh? Atleast you'd get some respite. smiley - erm

Been there and done that. When my girlie was smallest, I didn't earn enough money for disposables. So I found a really cheap flannel sheet, the scissors, and improvised. My missus of the day used the excuse that she was afraid of pricking with the safety-pin, and so avoided all changes. Maybe one of many reasons why that young lady now has all the time in the world for her "old Dad", and not more than a minute for her first Mom.

daughters do tend to have a connection with their dads anyway

Well, it's one that I am so happy to have. Aside from weekly long-distance phone calls, and 3 or 4 weeks a year visiting, I missed much of her youth. Her Mom left, taking my girl with her, when she was about 11 months old. With anywhere from 700 to as much as 3,000 miles in between, it gets a bit difficult.

*grins* my dad only lives 5 miles away

I'll leave you to judge if that makes you quite fortunate, or not. I'd love to be that close to my girl. But I also know from life-experience, that milady and I are most comfortable about 3 to 4 HOURS drive from either set of parents. Less 'helpful' suggestions or visitors that drop in without notice. smiley - erm

Then I certainly WILL count you as lucky. I'd love to see my own Dad so often, ... it's his other half that I'm none too fond of. She left many souvenirs on my person over the years. And within ...

ahh well, my mum died about 5 years ago (aged 49) and so far he hasn't found another lady. I'd like him to find someone else, he's ever so nice and deserves to be happy, but I'm still worried about what that might bring.

I'm sorry for your loss, girl.

In my case, it IS my Mom I'm speaking of. They are approaching their 52nd anniversary in November. For some reason, she decided of the 6 kids, one was needed as a punching bag. Frustration venting and such. The other 5 fared pretty well ...

thats very sad, are you youngest or oldest or somewhere in between?

Second youngest. In theory, I was the baby of the family for nearly 4 years. I clearly recall it wasn't any better then... The last born was a 2nd daughter, and is now the absolute centre of the universe. Just ask her or Mom. smiley - laugh

So did you then have a pair of protectors, or a pair of tormentors? smiley - laugh

The birth sequence in our little tribe was 2 boys and a girl, then again 2 boys and a girl.

well I surpose they would call themselves protectors, me I think they were tormenters. Although I did/do get on quite well with my youngest brother, yet there is a 7 year age gap, I do think he can be quite a prat at times though </>

Rev Nick { Only the dead are without fear }

That is quite an age gap. Most of us were fairly close in age, though not close other wise. You know, tolerate each other, bicker lots, but would still fight to the death for each other.

To give an idea of 'spacing', April 53, March '54, March '55, January 58, October 59, and August 63. Mom delivered two between her 19th and 20th birthdays, and another before her 21st. Good Catholics, ya know. smiley - laugh
